you americans in the North East try Tim Hortons yet?

WiredGuy 10-28-2005 10:57 PM

Tim Hortons is like the Starbucks of the USA. There's 1 on every corner and block and mall.

I think Tim Horton's donuts are sub-standard (the local bakery here is awesome) but you can't beat a double-double or an English Toffee cappucino on a cold morning. Their overpriced sandwiches are great... almost worth what they charge.

llporter 10-28-2005 11:24 PM

Dunkin Donuts is where it is at

Doctor Dre 10-28-2005 11:25 PM

Tim Hortons is the biggest fast food chain in canada

Zebra 10-28-2005 11:32 PM

Damn, I could eat a whole box of TimBits right now

RawAlex 10-29-2005 12:23 AM

Tim Hortons is the support mechanism for all the porn coming from Canada. Without it, nothing would get done before 3PM on any day.

Alex

BradM 10-29-2005 12:28 AM

I love their chili. I eat it once a day.

xclusive 10-29-2005 12:34 AM

Now that I moved to ny I have 2 within a mile and they are open 24 hours. Very dangerous for my fat ass. I had them for the first time in Montreal for WA in may. Glad to be near some now.

JimmiDean 10-29-2005 06:00 AM

Cant do without it in the morning

HorseShit 10-29-2005 06:02 AM

yup, have tim hortons in maine, love the coffee

Rinaldo 10-29-2005 06:55 AM

Tim Hortons is a copy of Starbucks.

If you crave breakfast edibles than you're missing out on dunkin donuts or crispy creme, both would put a hurting on Tim Hortons.

How is it a copy of Starbucks if it existed long before Starbucks?

iwantchixx 10-29-2005 07:13 AM

it's amazing how large the sales are with Tim Hortons. Think about it. the bulk of their business comes from a product that costs roughly $1.20 and their profit margins have always been really high.

I think how they make so much damn money off such a cheap product is the fact that they do not offer Interact. Thus no fees to pay on transactions.

Basic_man 10-29-2005 07:37 AM

miammiam....I like Tim horton.I go there every day....but just for cofee...mmmmm

digi 10-29-2005 08:03 AM

mmm.. timbits

RobbieRye 10-29-2005 08:16 AM

I personally contribute $3 to Tim-Horton at least 3 times a week.

PR_Dave 10-29-2005 08:23 AM

Had some Tim's this morning.

Double-double, and the turkey bacon club.

Funny, Krispy Kreme came to Montreal, made the usual big stink, then started CLOSING STORES. They didn't catch on worth shit around here.

Dunkin Donuts about went broke here too, I can count 3 within 2 miles of my house that are closed or converted to another brand.

4 years ago, there was no Tim Horton's within 3 miles of my house.

Today... there is, wait, let me think... probably 8 or 9 of them... and they are building another one.

I know who put the hurting on who.

Not even close! They have a completely different target market and their concepts couldn't be further apart for a somewhat similar product.

Although it's blasphemy to say so in Canada, I actually don't like Timmy Ho's coffee, I think it tastes burnt. The sandwiches kick ass though. My husband is actually on his way there right now to pick the kids up a box of Timbits - it's their Saturday morning treat :thumbsup

vicki 10-29-2005 09:32 AM

I visit Canada a few times a year and always stop for a double-double mmmmm
I can do without the donuts though, they just don't do it for me *shrug* ... although they beat krispy kreme by a mile.

Martin 10-29-2005 10:29 AM

I really dont get it.. It's not that good. Not worth waiting in line ups for. People are freaks.

Paul Waters 10-29-2005 11:54 AM

Tim's rocks.

Does anyone remember Tim Horton the hockey player? Tough and talented. Won four Stanley's with the Leafs (their last four) and died in 1974 (or thereabouts) driving home from Buffalo to Toronto at 140 mph.

There are six outlets within two kilometers of my home.

I did a project in small town of 4,000 called Aylmer. They had 4 Tim Horton's.

Wendy's made a very smart buy. Now the suits are saying sell Tim's off cause Wendy's is a drag on the stock valuation. A few spare sheckles invested in Wendy's might be a good play.

Elli 10-29-2005 12:46 PM

I don't like Tim's coffee (tastes burnt to me, too) but the donuts mmmmm and the sammiches mmmm!

I haven't tried their new "hot smoothies" yet. Anyone else?

Wiggles 10-29-2005 12:56 PM

the population of my city is about 150k, we have about 24 Tim Horton's, largest in Canada i think.

tragedy 10-29-2005 01:06 PM

Tim Horton's owns over all.

JuiceMonkey 10-29-2005 02:07 PM

I like the steeped tea

blazi 10-29-2005 02:15 PM

Tim Hortons profits from me almost every day!!

Love their coffee, they rock. :)

MetroPornTour 10-29-2005 03:20 PM

I am willing to send someone French Tourist Stuff in exchange for a portable Tim Horton's re-usable coffee mug.

Hell...
If you can "ahem" get your hands on 6 normal Tims coffee cups. (Not the paper ones. The white porceilon mugs)

I'm willing to pay for them or make other arrangements of goods exchange.

lisa k 10-29-2005 03:26 PM

Tim's muffins are the best!

I got about 4 of them here, but sorry won't part with them, they are too hard to get now.

I have a white christmas / hockey one from last year... the in store ones are VERY hard to get ahold of unless you know someone working there. Then you can get then slowly over time without screwing up their stock too much.

The travel mugs (metal ones) are easy enough to get.

There was a joke on one of the TV fake news things:

"A water pipe burst in downtown Halifax today, flooding two city blocks. 2 residents and 48 tim horton's restaurants had to be evacuated".

Alex

Dalai lama 10-29-2005 05:02 PM

I like donuts

PixeLs 10-29-2005 08:01 PM

Well, I just love their muffins. :)

Actually for the travel mugs I prefer the plastic ones. I'm always going through airports and the last time I was in CDG airport (france)......

They took apart my metal travel mug!!!! They thought it might be a bomb casing!!

The problem is in France, travel mugs just don't appear to exist.

I have a plain black plastic one. (Dollarama purchased) And I get more questions, comments and stares from people then when wearing a very short mini-skirt and garterbelt.

You know how us Canadiens love our coffee and we only have one large travel mug for the two of us.

pornguy 10-29-2005 08:18 PM

Never heard of them. And there is nothing like the hot glazed from KK.

Paraskass 10-29-2005 09:21 PM

the only thing I hate about Tim Hortons is the lineups... sometimes they are just too long, and move oh so slow.

But I admire Tim Hortons for NOT jacking the price of their products at sporting events. A coffee costs the same weather you're at a hockey game or at the restaurant.

tim horton's is not a copy of starbucks. its the walmart of coffee shops in canada. more fast food style coffe while starbucks is the yuppy gourmet coffee you find downtown.

Kimmykim 10-31-2005 03:09 PM

A double double and some Timbits for sure.

But Krispy Kreme really has the best doughnuts. They just have the worst habit of accounting errors corporately since Enron probably. Thus the reason for stores closing right and left.

webgurl 10-31-2005 03:11 PM

yeah i would have to agree with kimmy krispy kremes
have the best doughnuts by longshot

Mighty Chin 10-31-2005 03:15 PM

Picked up a dozen this morning for the office.

CherryLipsRosa 10-31-2005 03:15 PM

If there is anything i miss by moving to Costa Rica is Tim Hortons French Vanilla coffee.
The good old days!!
