Who remembers using Netscape Composer?

When I started in 1997 my first site was with netscape composer, boy have things change since then.

KingK7 11-04-2005 07:58 PM

Haha damn yeah, I had forgotten all about that.
I used that for a while, as well as FrontPage express.

Blackrose 11-04-2005 08:30 PM

Still use it today.... I use it to make gallery templates and paste the thumbs into them... works great!

Trixxxia 11-04-2005 11:41 PM

spunkmaster 11-04-2005 11:51 PM

I use it all the time when I want to see some code that gets hidden in other browsers :)

I remember making my first website in 1996 using Composer and then getting all excited because 20th Century Fox had a banner ad on my page. I used the banner exchange program back then. I then called Computer City Super Center (Now CompUSA) and asked them if they had "webpage creation software"! hahaha, now I feel like an idiot when I think about it. I think Frontpage was out by then.

I also had a website banned back in 1997, it was my first serious web page. Gilbert Mumprhy's fake ID's...a comprehensive how-to make fake ID's website. It was banned by my host after a month. :pimp

Good stuff. I can't believe that I've been doing websites for over 10 years. Damn, I'm old. :disgust

jimthefiend 11-05-2005 05:10 AM

I remember it. Also AOL Press.

pussyluver 11-05-2005 05:19 AM

Composer, Paint and Notepad -- what more did ya need.

svenski 11-05-2005 05:31 AM

Anyone remember the browser that Netscape followed on from, Mosaic? I think it was.

Damn, I remember the days uploading on a 14,400 modem, using Compuserve and my shitty 486 DX2-66 with 8mb of ram. Back then Compuserve used to charge for every minute online plus every email you sent. :1orglaugh

u-Bob 11-05-2005 05:56 AM

I hated it... I liked FP express better :)

Wilbo 11-05-2005 06:00 AM

Composer was my first editor also. Then I found Front Page at a computer show for about $40 and thought I'd saved so much money. It wouldn't work correctly and I had to call Microsoft help desk. That phone call cost me over $100 :(

Yes, I can indeed remember Netscape Composer. Back then I was a die hard Netscape fan, don?t know what happened to it. Now I use FireFox but between those times I was die hard Internet Explorer fan.

Coding/Programming? and what not? is not done in UltraEdit. Ah? the good old times!

Hentaikid 11-05-2005 05:10 PM

mosaic rocked :)
