Happy Birthday US Marines

It just dawned on me today was the birthday of the United States Marine Corps.

Here's some quotes I came across.......

Ronald Reagan, former President of the United States: "Some people live an entire lifetime and wonder if they've ever made a difference in the world. Marines don't have that problem."

Richard Harding Davis, war correspondent:
"The Marines have landed, and the situation is well in hand."

LtCol Oliver North, USMC (ret):
"The only people I like beside my wife and kids are Marines."

Eleanor Roosevelt - 1945:
"The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps."

:1orglaugh I like this one.

Where would the world be today without the Marines?

Just for shits and giggles, here's a young Rochard as a US Marine in 1997....

Damm that's one old organization, I got an email about it yesterday.

I was a very spoiled USAF guy and have massive respect for what the Marines do.

:thumbsup :thumbsup

That looks like a Halloween costume DS - and what's with the hand gesture (it looks like a gang sign, or you practicing to suck a dick)?

So where are your E-6 pix? You said you would post them in another post, but never did. Never seen any pix of you at an actual base either (in fact that is the only military picture I have ever seen of you)...

Maybe you were a Marine, maybe you weren't, but unless you did some wild combat heroics, it's unlikely you advanced through the ranks as quickly as you have tried to indicate.

If you're telling the truth, back it up, and will I salute you - however, if you are lying as has been documented that you have done on GFY several times before, then fuck you for being a liar, and double fuck you for pretending to be a hero.

My Dad and Brother were both Marines, and I served six years in the Navy. We don't brag about it. We were only doing what every man in our family has ever done, which is to step up and volunteer to serve the country by proudly wearing the uniform of the U.S. military while in our youth.

It turns my guts that brave Marines and other U.S. military personnel are being unnecessarily sacrificed on foreign soil due to the lies of a President, Vice-President and Secretary of Defense, who all managed to avoid/shirk their opportunity to actively serve their country in the military.

The USMC is an organization that has always stood for the highest military ideals of this country. Some individuals, like Oliver North, have fallen short and brought disgrace to the Marines, but many others have served honorably and made the ultimate sacrifice in their quest to defend the ideals of the United States.

To all of those who served honorably, thank you and I salute you.

Correction.

Mr. Rumsfeld attended Princeton University on academic and NROTC scholarships (A.B., 1954) and served in the U.S. Navy (1954-57) as an aviator and flight instructor. In 1957, he transferred to the Ready Reserve and continued his Naval service in flying and administrative assignments as a drilling reservist until 1975. He transferred to the Standby Reserve when he became Secretary of Defense in 1975 and to the Retired Reserve with the rank of Captain in 1989.

Rumsfeld falls into the shirked, not avoided category, not that he did much in his three year active duty career.

He collected military paychecks from the taxpayers for his reserve duty, but most certainly did far less than he could have, had he wanted to go back to active duty during Vietnam. And look at what he has done to the current reservists - it's shameful.

Post an E-6 photo, and some pix of you on active duty during "Enduring Freedom" (not simply sporting a uniform in an apartment), and I'll send you a pass to my site.

Actually, the Marine Corp birthday is November 10th - today is veteran's day.

But details aside, Happy Birthday Marines! Semper Fi!

And thanks to ALL veterans and their families for the sacrifices you've made, and continue to make.

TheLegacy 11-11-2005 07:04 AM

if only many of the kids today appreciated what was done for them and the hell every soldier went through in war keeping them free - none would ever consider holding a gun for sport or for self confidence instead they would find pride in just being called an "american"

I'm not sure what I think of Col. Oliver North. Isn't it possilbe he was doing what he was told to do, became the ultimate fall guy, and kept his mouth shut?

As I stated correction.

The US never supplied Iraq with a single WMD...period...and the military equiptment supplied were a handful of rotary wing aircraft (not gunships) and some cluster bombs that were indirectly sold to Iraq during the Iran/Iraq war.
