My theory about SE traffic on blogs

Unless your blog is very, very targeted its just pretty useles traffic like most traffic...might as well buy from Choker.

Why?

From my own blog i noticed i made an entry about "big tits around asses" from Bangbros. I used it in the title. Some sample pics, little story, the usual.

Next day i made an entry about uhm...black hoes...whatever..monster cock.

The entries move down the page, eventually to the next page and eventually to page 10.

The bangbros entry did 2 things:

1: very targeted - google listed me on the first page for "bangbro"...great you think. Well, all those people ended up at my frontpage with the bangbro entry 5 pages away. They wont even see it. Result = totally useles traffic. Well not useles but nothing more interesting than a gallery link or whatever.

2: Google started sending me hits for keywords from 1 entries combined. Or 1 entry the title and a word from the story combined.
Like "big site" or "monster facial" and other combinations that first of all cant be find anyhere on the site as 2 words together and 2nd those 2 words are again on page 5 or 10.

I was thinking about tgps/mgps as well. Send me your galleries because i have 20% SE traffic. Or trade links with me because i have killer SE traffic.

SE traffic for what actually? Whats the point in having 20% SE traffic, people looking for free tits, free ass, pamela anderson if im submitting a midget gallery.

Yes i understand if your blog or niche is strictly one theme then you can get targeted SE traffic, other than that i dont see the big hype and certainly no reason to brag about it. Its just shitty untargeted traffic like most traffic out there.

End.

I've noticed the same trend. If you update often (you have to to stay fresh) your entries fly down the page and the content is no longer easily accessable so the se traffic visit time is low.

Dirty F 11-17-2005 11:52 AM

Damn typos...1 entries combined obviously is 2 entries combined.

imaginax 11-17-2005 11:53 AM

Blogs are old school. The new thing is Tlogs, which is when you use a typewriter to write a letter and post it in the school cafeteria.

TheSenator 11-17-2005 11:58 AM

Targetting the same theme keywords like tits, bubble butt, teens, and other broad terms particular to your post in the long run will yield better results.

I happened to get a good listing on Yahoo for Kori Kitten, even though I didn't target it at all. Now I am getting a ton of traffic for her and having a hard time converting it.

Wiggles 11-17-2005 12:01 PM

i've gotten some good sales from my blog, had listings for solo girl names, once day had 6 sales just for one girl.

Splum 11-17-2005 12:03 PM

Blogs suck. Quit the interweb now. kthx

Machete_ 11-17-2005 12:07 PM

Franck: No hate, but seriously - sometimes i wonder why the fuck you are in this business... If you don't know the solution to above problem, then you are right.. quiet working with blogs

I assume you're sending it to spunkycash right? And it isn't converting? Maybe make the page surfers are landing on based around her but with several other solo gals on it to cross sell.

that is not how i read it "Unless your blog is very, very targeted its just pretty useles traffic like most traffic...might as well buy from Choker."

SE traffic is always golden IMO...

BradM 11-17-2005 12:22 PM

Yeah I plan on making some changes.
The other thing I would suggest is detect the referral string and pull out keywords. Just do a check on common yahoo/google/msn query strings, grab the keywords and filter content. That's some programming work but I am going to do this myself as well.

georgeyw 11-17-2005 12:23 PM

I agree - blogs suck and there is no money to be made from them.

It is, if its going to the right place.

Free tits ending up a big ass site is about as good as Choker traffic.

And unless you are really optimizing your pages for SE's and certain keywords what many blog and most tgp owners dont do then its just traffic like any other traffic. Nothing to rave about.

dopeman 11-17-2005 12:35 PM

yeah, when it indexed your page, those keywords were on your front page. do you have a 'recent entries' sidebar on your blog? maybe people will see that and click on the entry

beta-tester 11-17-2005 01:21 PM

Franck, contact me on ICQ: 944.320.46

Juilan 11-17-2005 01:29 PM

Frank if your using wordpress there's a pretty easy way to fix that. ICQ me if you want.

fuzebox 11-17-2005 01:31 PM

Of course it's true, the fact that the traffic comes from a search engine doesn't it's going to result in higher conversion rates.

Your example though, shows that you don't have enough links to your individual posts... Using blog aggregators and other sites that will link to each of your updates instead of your main page, you can get more traffic to those individual pages. Of course you main page will still get a lot of the more general traffic, and my solution for this is to display an hpa at the top of my sites based on what search keywords they entered the sites with... Pretty effective.

Rui 11-17-2005 01:31 PM

why don't you filter it based on the search-querys? :S

pornguy 11-17-2005 01:33 PM

Franck. the best way to convert the traffic that lands on the index page, and the iten that they are looking for is NO longer there, is the have the Sponsor like right there. Make sure that you have used some of the text for it. Like Bang Bros Big butts. or what ever.

Dirty F 11-17-2005 01:33 PM

Hey im not talking about my blog specifically. I run just a small blog with a few hits. Its not even worth my time to work on this. Its just a general observation i made.

Well mainstream blog traffic can be worth several cents a visitor to your site at a minimum.

LOL, that's like saying "It's just money like any other money, nothing special."

Point is, it's traffic you didn't have before, that you got easily, for free.

Sure, niche targeted keyword traffic like I get on Spanking Blog is *better* -- but all my traffic makes me money.

There's no such thing as shitty traffic, unless you paid for it.

TheDoc 11-17-2005 04:03 PM

Put a search box near the top of your page so your un-targeted keywords can have a way to find what they are looking for.

Also keyword match banners or links to posts with related content.

emthree 11-17-2005 06:17 PM

Blogs are overrated
Keep it old school. :pimp

SkeetSkeet 11-17-2005 06:22 PM

My blog does just fine...I have had a couple of really good days so far and it is only a week old. Just build your site to be more user friendly and have it appeal to one niche, don't try to niche jump to much...keeps your keyword similar!

Claude 11-17-2005 06:37 PM

I get 95% of my SE traffic directly to the individual pages, donīt know what setup/script you are using but if all your traffic goes to the frontpage, then yes - itīs not good.

Take a look at http://www.bizarcentral.com

keywords: marian sirtis rape (#1)
http://www.google.com/search?hl=da&c...irtis+rape&lr=

http://www.bizarcentral.com/bondage-news/1120670888/

Keywords: jenaveve joli (#2)
http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...=jenaveve+joli

http://www.bizarcentral.com/bondage-news/1127254349/

Keywords: rope bondage tutorial (#5)
http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...ndage+tutorial

http://www.bizarcentral.com/bondage-news/1121406325/

Pretty good traffic from my point of view. 90-95% of my SE traffic comes from the first page on google and goes to directly to the individual page on my site, not the main index page.

Ohhhh... while I remember it - thereīs no money in SEO :-)

(I multiplied my income by 6 since July 1 for one program because i made this "blog" - I have posted 4-5 "articles" linking to another program in the last week, 4 sales so far, not much yet, but I have about 100 "articles" ready promoting that sponsor, so it will get up there in 1-2 months and the the rebills starts coming in.)

Repeat after me: Thereīs no money is SEO

Gottis 11-17-2005 06:54 PM

What? When I make an entry (i.e. new page) about something, that particular page gets listed on google, for the keywords I wanted to target. Not the index page.

Monique Niccole 11-17-2005 07:44 PM

I always get indexed directly to the index page and then right below it to the permalink page. Are your permalinks set up correctly? or am I just lucky?

Ah, Claude, so you're the cut-and-paste artiste behind that blog?

Claude's Post

vaginalpear.com

Thanks for putting up the italicized credits to vaginalpear.com and wikipedia after I bitched, but I'm afraid you can't call it "research" when every word of your article first appeared on vaginalpear.com.

Also, a clue for you: *real* bloggers give credit with working links, not dead text.

LOL, scratch that -- Claude just edited his article to take out some of the titles and text he stole from vaginalpear.com. And his site's not in the Google Cache, yet, so this just became pointless drama.
