Computer issues...

So I was encoding video and decided to jump in the shower while I was waiting for it to finish. When I came back to the computer, my computer had just shut off. When I turned it back on my icq window popped up for me to log in and then there was also a hotkey keyboard thing that popped up. I closed it out. Then I went to see if my video had finished before the computer turned off. When I played it there was no sound but the video worked in windows media player. So I tried playing music and there was no sound. So I tried to play another video and still no sound. Has this ever happened to anyone before? Any suggestions on what to do? I tried redownloading windows media player, but that didn't work.

Please help if you can!

Thanks!

Did you run a spyware checker and virus scan?? That is weird that windows shut down.

LittleMack 11-17-2005 06:43 PM

What are you editing with?

ArikaAmes 11-17-2005 06:45 PM

I am running PC Onpoint right now to see if it finds something. After that I will try another virus scanner. I was using VideoCharge. I have been using it all day and hadn't had any problems.
It was really weird because as soon as I walked away from the computer it just shut off.
And I have never had that hotkey keyboard pop up before either.

Sounds like your sound card drivers need to be reloaded. Hit me up on ICQ if you need a walk through.

The hotkey keyboard popup is the thing, you probably have something on the computer. Try and get microsoft anti-spyware and adaware. See what happens.

Thank you guys for your help! I am running adaware now. Miky Munky, it that doesn't work, I may take you up on your offer...lol.
Thank you Little Mack!

Not being mean but do a search on Google 'how to encode video' and you will find out that you will need another computer to encode :)

jaYMan 11-17-2005 08:03 PM

First thing I would do is setup a computer that is dedicated to only encoding. Our video box isnt even hooked to the net. Good Luck!

ArikaAmes 11-17-2005 08:13 PM

Okay ran adaware and didn't help. When I rebooted my computer, it popped up that I had new found hardware. It is MultiMedia Audio Controller. Do I want to go ahead and install it?

I was doing my video on another computer then I messed up the computer, that was my own stupid fault. I have another computer to do it on, but I haven't gotten it all set up yet.
Thanks guys for your replies!

ArikaAmes 11-17-2005 09:46 PM

Okay can't install the audio controller :(

Is your sound card built in type or not?

webcrawler 11-18-2005 02:35 AM

Looks like a hardware problem. Have tried playing the video to a another pc?
