How do you get access to these sites? Do you break into all these places you take pictures of?

do u ever run into weird folks or gangs when u are going to these locations?

I didn't break into any of those sites.. literally walked in off the street, simple as that :D

I've luckily not run into any people.. usually it's going to be squatters or junkies, depending on the location.

9 times out of 10 you can explore without them even noticing you, and the other time they don't care.

Every so often people get chased, and a while ago a person got beaten up in a drain, but it's really really rare.

Canon 1ds, usually shooting the 17-40mm f4 or the 14mm sigma.
Camera body doesn't really make much of a difference ;)

What about your pictures you've taken from (what looks to me) on top of buildings? Did you get roof access from a janitor or something?

I'm sure there is much better places to take pictures of..is that their slum or something?

For the rooftop ones etc, i usually dson't get permission.
That said, I've never cut a padlock or smashed a lock / door / window to get into a location.

curiously enough, it's not a shadow, in the true definition of the word.
The drain is obviously pitch black, so I had to light it all w/ flashes.

My 'shadow' is actually me standing there, flashing the flash towards the camera - so it's an absence of light, not a cast shadow :D

almost like a reverse shadow

I grew up in Melbourne. Some time I should show you some places where you can point your camera. Several 'tourist attractions' around Victoria have sections heavily off-limit to tourists, and those places are definately something to see.
