Crash reports dog Xbox 360 launch
Some owners reported crashes during game play Some Xbox 360 owners are starting to report problems with their brand new next generation gaming console. Messages posted to gaming forums and discussion groups mention that consoles have crashed during play thanks to several different errors. The crashes were reported as happening with a variety of games including Perfect Dark Zero, Project Gotham Racing and Need for Speed. Microsoft acknowledged the reports but said incidents were "isolated". Crash tests New owners of the console posted complaints about crashes to the Engadget, Xbox Scene, Team Xbox and Microsoft's official Xbox 360 forums. The messages posted reported that some of the consoles stopped working after a short bout of playing or crashed during a game and flashed up an error number. Some users posted video and photographs of the crash screens. The reports suggest that the Xbox 360s are falling victim to a variety of errors rather than the crashes being caused by the same glitch. The scattered reports make it hard to gauge how widespread the problems are. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/4466688.stm Microsoft living up to its reputation :1orglaugh |
I hope they get the infamous bluescreen, it'd rock.

If I was Sony, I would hire a few dozen people to start threads on boards talking about crashes. You only need a spark to start a fire.
|
yeah "GENERAL GAME FAULT"
cant expect much from a ms product |
Doesnt suprise me
|
The system has been tested by 1000's of game testers. Im sure if their was an error's it picked up and fixed. Its beyond retarded to relese something without proper testing. Im sure its just BS, unless they were trying to rush the release.
|
I bet it was humor error. Like the system with the errors was not put together right in the factory.
|
Not to worry, XBOX 360 SERVICE PACK 1 will fix it :)

A GAMER fed up with his new Xbox 360 crashing every 20 minutes has fixed the problem by raising the power supply off the ground with some string.
Dan, from Duluth, he thinks the main reason that the xBox 360 freezes is because the power supply overheats. The solution is to lift the power supply off the floor and allow the air to circulate better around it. Another simple method involved getting a box with no cover and putting the power supply on the edges. As a result, he was able to leave his machine on for a stonking seven hours without it freezing up. |

This is the reason I think I am going to pass on the 360. I had purchased the original Xbox on launch and mine locks up fairly often. It is very annoying to say the least.
|
No fucking way! Microsoft releasing something that doesn't work? Never heard of such a thing...
Didn't see this coming a mile away. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh |
Not crashing here. Mine is on allmost 24/7 since I got it. Played all three games mentioned. Plus others. Keeping my fingers crossed tho.
|
What piece of hardware is released and has NO problems after the initial launch? Get real people, I went through a total of 3 PS2s and 2 xboxs.
|
never had problems with a nintendo gamecube even with some violent drops. Can't say the same for the xbox or ps2.. Sure, the ps2 may have more games and the xbox has more horsepower, BUT when it comes to quality and durability nintendo wins.
|
hell, my gamecube still plays a game on a cracked disc and it's not a small crack.

I think every system has had problems after release. This sucks though, means I'll have to wait even longer to get one.
Its a double edged sword. They could have delayed launch and pissed a LOT of people AND miss a crucial time period for launch, or they could have launched and pissed off a small percentage of people due to problems. Obviously they chose the latter, which was probably the best decision. |

I'll take a reboot every 20 minutes vs playing Gamecube. :winkwink: |
For some reason most consoles have a problem with the power supply at launch. I'll bet M$ has a fix out within the week and that the PS3 has similar heating problems
|
More unhappy unpaid Microsoft beta testers. What a suprise.

xbox360 is the craziest thing right now

Damn.. that's what happens when you employ programmers and expect them to wear suits and work in offices.
They need some good shit and time to chill out and perfect the coding errors they created on the last "high" :rasta |
it's not crashing becourse of the software but it's an overheating power supply..

BAHAHAHA... XBOX is a load of shit...
I've never had a Nintendo crash on me... |
i'll wait for the PS3 i think

series 1 tivo's had a LOT of problems with power supplies.. power supplies are usually skimped on in set top boxes (consoles, tivos, etc), because good ones are very expensive. when you have a release of this magnitude, there are going to be some bad ones.
not trying to justify for MS here, but just saying.. the poster above who said he hasnt had any probs, he prolly won't if its worked so far. :2 cents: |
meanwhile my im in love with my PSP! ;)
