I'm not pissed but I agree with him that it's stupid. It's come to mean good wishes and good will during the holiday season for most people that say it. In other words there is no religious undertone to it and when their is, it's not discriminatory. If I'm religious and I say Merry Xmas to somebody of another faith, I mean goodwill to him.

I often wonder who is pushing agendas like these. I've never encountered anybody or know of anybody that thinks "Merry Xmas" is offensive and should be replaced by happy holiday, and I know enough people from many backgrounds. I've never read an article or anything suggesting that anybody wants this.

yeah i think that's pretty fucking ignorant. this is america, "Merry Christmas" is a term that has been used forever - simply removing it because people who don't celebrate it cry is ignorant.

fucking whiner crybaby bitches.

Maxy 11-29-2005 10:44 AM

pretty retarded. I like it when people tell me merry x-mas and im not christian.

WebairGerard 11-29-2005 10:44 AM

You cared enough to click and reply.

Christmas is a ripoff of pagan solstice celebrations anyway, if Christians could read their own holy book they'd be embarassed about the whole Christmas lie.

Fortunately, reading comprehension is not their strong suit.

Maybe O'Reilly wants us all to celebrate Saturnalia, one of the original Christmases? Or maybe Mitra's birthday?

candyflip 11-29-2005 11:13 AM

Christ was born towards the end of April.

who cares? none of the holidays are about the original purpose anymore.

Thanksgiving is about eating a lot of turkey
Halloween is about dressing up and getting candy from strangers
Easter is about eggs, a bunny and candy
and christmas is about a tree and presents

Political correctness has gone too far. As a rule to tell a store not to say Merry Christmas is perhaps a bit far left of the center. As someone who celebrates Christmas it would be nice to hear Merry Christmas but any sign or mention of the Christmas season is okay with me.

There are parts of the country where the population is no longer primarily Christian and offering a Merry Christmas as a salutation wouldn't be appropriate.

However, for the majority of America we like to hear Merry Christmas.

It doesn't make me mad, but I do wonder about the future of our society.

I hate Bill.
I hate not saying merry chistmas
I hate people that have a problem with 'in God we trust" on money and/or the pledge of allegence because God is in it.

pornguy 11-29-2005 05:42 PM

Welcome to life under King Bush!

Kard63 11-29-2005 05:48 PM

Hey look, I'm a pretty fucking flaming liberal but to move to a country that is 80% christian and to want them to insulate you from that fact is fucking selfish and stupid. Anyone that feels that way can eat my asshole.

MattO 11-29-2005 05:57 PM

It's a fucking non-issue. No one gives a fuck but some nutjob christians led by the likes of Jerry Fallwell who have started up a bullshit campain about "putting Christ back in Christmas" and are sending out press releases that the likes of O'Reily pick up on and spout off about because they believe their brain dead Xian audience needs another reason to bitch and complain about something.
They should all be crucified.
