Of course the house always wins, casinos arent big business cause they loose money.

xlogger 11-29-2005 05:46 PM

I dont understand why people gamble when they know the house always wins. Whats the point of that?

Cause the house always wins, but it also always pays somewhere to someone.

Jer 11-29-2005 05:53 PM

Not if you play Texas Hold em'. You play against other players and the house takes a cut from each pot. It's the only game where you have a fighting chance of winning.

To some people it is pure entertainment just like throwing a party, or going out for a fun night. Not everyone is broke you know :2 cents: :upsidedow

studiocritic 11-29-2005 06:32 PM

house edge on blackjack is well under 1%.. that means playing by proper strategy you'll win slightly less than 50 out of 100 hands. now if you know when to bet larger, YOU win overall.

Still up after 2 years :)

Have probably had more down nights than up nights, but a couple of really, really big up nights still have the winnings tipped in my favor.

I love both table games and poker, the casino is always fun.

tranza 11-29-2005 06:34 PM

I think the most I ever lost was $50.

I'm not a big gambler. I like sure things.

:)

Jarmusch 11-29-2005 06:37 PM

The casino always wins because it doesn't lose control and doesn't bet all it's money at once.

tony286 11-29-2005 06:39 PM

yes in the long run they always win I lost $1100 in about 30 minutes, then had to wait around the casino with no money in my pocket for 6 hrs for the bus to come back so I could go home lol.

JamesK2 11-29-2005 06:39 PM

I love the excitement of betting... and I don't go there to win, but for a nice time.

Did lose a few grands on it.

You need to know how and what you're playing.

KRL 11-29-2005 08:25 PM

You can only win if you hit a lucky streak, stop playing and leave. But the casino will do everything imaginable to entice and keep you there so that the time factor gets back their money.

The longer you play the higher the guarantee for the casino that you will lose all your money.

Poker of course you can win since you're playing against other players and the house advantage is not in the equation.

You can see a good analysis of casino VCL's on this chart.

poisson 11-29-2005 09:31 PM

Why did you have to do a thread about it? :disgust

I'm at $470 spent now. (update from my $450

I love the taste of that 95% rum 5% coke glass they bring within seconds of the dealer busting on a fat double on both hands...

Jayvis 11-29-2005 09:35 PM

Sucks i need to quit.

miss wild 11-30-2005 02:35 AM

I am not a gambler...I hate gambling

PenisFace 11-30-2005 02:38 AM

I lost 5 dollars gambling once. NEVER again will I do that. What good is gambling? It isn't. It's a brutal habbit to get into that cleans people out. Sure, you can win a hundred bucks, and then 20 minutes later, be in the hole 600. The casino always wins. You think they dont have games stacked in their favour? Same thing goes with betting on sports and shit. There's no skill behind it. It's chance. If you put $20,000 on a football game, you need help.

MrChips 11-30-2005 02:42 AM

Im an affiliate for a casino - some poor bastard (through my account :pimp ) has lost over 50,000$ this month.

I aint complainin at 25% :thumbsup

knoxville 11-30-2005 02:44 AM

you are correct dude, casino is the real winner in gambling. good thing i don't waste my time and money in that kind of activity.

je_rome 11-30-2005 03:47 AM

my first and last time I lost about 10 grand

You are implying that it's possible to over long term win betting on sports?

Scott McD 11-30-2005 04:26 AM

Most of my gambling money goes on sports bets. I don't usually go to casino's. Which is probably a good thing... :disgust

lakroze 11-30-2005 04:57 AM

the last month I'm almost everyday in a casino.. with small amounts of money...

I mean - yesterday I lost 30 $ , 2 days ago 100 $ sometimes (rarely) I wins small amount... and for my case - YES - THE CASINO ALWAYS WINS ...

but its cool to play roulette ...

and one advice - never go to a casino with "I have to win" in your mind

wielco 11-30-2005 05:02 AM

20 pounds in scotland

Nicky 11-30-2005 05:08 AM

The last 2 weeks im up loads, but if u scope it out over my whole life im probably -

Antonio 11-30-2005 05:31 AM

couple of bucks, I used to go to casinos with my friends but I don't really see the kick

HDADULT 11-30-2005 06:25 AM

I goto the Hard Rock in Tampa to play Hold em (for fun). The casino really sucks because its only slot machines and a poker room. I am allways amazed at the rows and rows of people pushing a button with blank stares on there faces.
I find it funny in the entrance you see people all happy when they arrive and when they leave they are not so happy anymore. Its kind of like leaving a strip club with nothing but wood knowing you spent too much money.
