You have another mouse pluged in (USB/Wireless)

Or it's a defective item =>

jscott 12-01-2005 05:21 AM

btw, just sat at computer store for 2hrs while 2 guys tried to fix the problem, they couldnt figure out how to do it

we did this so far...........
1. defrag
2. reinstall drivers
3. system restore
4. bios, diconnected touchpad

the only thing the guy could think of was he said to replace my harddisk and use my current as a usb plugin or something like that

X37375787 12-01-2005 05:22 AM

I've had it happen with ball mice before, the cursor would randomly shoot into a corner and I was not able to get it away from there. I think replacing the mouse and drivers would do the trick.

nope, no other mouse plugged in, and it's not defective because this happend before to me

i replaced the mouse, worked fine for a while then started to do it again, someone said i have to remove my computer battery when i'm plugged into the wall, worked ok for 1 week then started doing it again

jscott 12-01-2005 05:24 AM

oh, and also we tried plugging my usb into the other type of port thingy and it still floated to corner

Evil Doer 12-01-2005 05:33 AM

did you replace the mouse with an optical too or a regular?

edit : ok a regular

I had that on an old laptop damn what was it again... it would just drift away... it was a driver problem lemme think

I had the same problem as you with one of my laptops, I have no clue what could be causing that :error

Pete-KT 12-01-2005 05:38 AM

SO did you try a new mouse? remove the mouse, delete the drivers, try a totally differnt mouse and reinstall its drivers

DutchTeenCash 12-01-2005 05:39 AM

i have another mouse, it had same problem aswell

it has to be some kind of settings problem, OR something is just broke (and it aint the mouse)

GFX Wiz 12-01-2005 06:20 AM

I have had this problem with my optical mouse. Turns out the surface I was using the mouse on had flaws that messed with the laser. But with a laptop...I would get a can of compressed air and blast the inner edge of the touch pad...might be a crumb or something wedged in there that is putting pressure on the pad, making your cursor move.

evildick 12-01-2005 06:25 AM

Same problem here on one of my computers. I don't use it too often myself so I never got too worried about it.

On this computer it only did it since I switched to a USB optical mouse. When it had the standard PS2 mouse it worked fine.

Project-Shadow 12-01-2005 06:29 AM

I had that problem everytime my phone went off the cursor would just fly off in one direction. They seem to pick up the rays or some shit. =/

Sneezy 12-01-2005 06:57 AM

keep the cat away from it

Screaming 12-01-2005 07:01 AM

Does it still do it with your mouse unplugged? If so it might be the mouse pad on the laptop.

~Ray 12-01-2005 08:22 AM

control panel - mouse - pointer options - uncheck the box next to: automatically move pointer blah blah blah... then click apply, then restart computer.

divinity 12-01-2005 08:24 AM

try disabling the default touchpad/nub on the computer. on one of my laptops, the nub mouse is off kilter and slowing drifts the cursor to the top right.

Tom_PM 12-01-2005 08:55 AM

Yeah, try disabling the touchpad. Remove it's drivers or disable them in system settings. And when you reinstall the mouse driver, maybe try uninstalling it, hard booting, then let the Wizard install it (just to ensure it's fully uninstalled before reinstalling)
I had to use that method with a retarded video card once. Simply reinstalling didnt do it. Had to uninstall, reboot, and let mr wizard help.

Every mouse does that to me, no matter what computer it is...desktop and laptop. And, all I have is a regular, non fancy mouse.

Sigh. I've given up trying to figure it out.

Validus 12-01-2005 09:15 AM

I had a similar problem, after updating my mouse driver? it was gone.

Very upsetting when working with graphics!

tonton 12-01-2005 10:16 AM

why would they want to replace the hd? there's no point on doing that, new mouse new driver, better. ;)

yea it still does it when the mouse is unplugged, so it's not a defective mouse for sure
