So my plasma is fucked

I bought a 42 inch panasonic hdtv plasma 1.5 years ago and now it seems its missing one of the colors. Just happened out of nowhere. What a waste of 7k.

Spunky 12-01-2005 09:32 PM

One year warranty?..That sucks

ShaneRyale 12-01-2005 09:32 PM

That is one of the main reasons I went with a DLP and not the plasma.

Dirty Dane 12-01-2005 09:33 PM

7k and no insurance?

BJ 12-01-2005 09:37 PM

its missing one of the colors of the RGB, have no idea what to do... ive tried all the imputs, component, s-video etc and same problem. The thing is custom mounted and recessed in a wall so I cant exactly take it down to look at it closer.

what type of insurance you speak of? I have homeowners insurance but doubt they'd cover this.

there are really cheap Plasma tv repair people in most major cities. I had mine go out and they only charged me $127 to fix it including parts, and tx....not a big deal if you dropped 7k

look in the yellow pages under tv repair and make sure they are authorized to work on your brand of tv and then just bring to them

tristan_D 12-02-2005 12:14 AM

damn that's the worst thing I could imagine. I love my plasma TV so much

SleazyDream 12-02-2005 12:17 AM

i love my DLP tv sooo much more now

thank you

Redrob 12-02-2005 12:19 AM

Damn, that sucks.

I am so disappointed when good electronics go bad.

I'd cry myself to sleep if I couldn't get it fixed and no warranty.

The Captain 12-02-2005 12:19 AM

that sucks to much best of luck

lagwagon 12-02-2005 12:20 AM

DLP is definitly the way to go ;)

My parents just bought a fucking plasma, I was so mad... they paid a fortune for it (like 7-8k$).

Yes. If you buy an expensive tv, or other expensive things, its a very good idea to get the extended warranty and calculate that as an extra cost.
I think most people only make that "mistake" once.

Sosa 12-02-2005 12:43 AM

DLP > Plasma

Mine more than paid for itself

baddog 12-02-2005 12:50 AM

So, I did not know what DLP was, and I Googled it, found this link - http://www.dlptvreview.com/dlptv/dlptelevision.html

Interesting the only advantage DLP has over LCD in their comparison.

Any input?

phonesex 12-02-2005 12:57 AM

dude, now that fucked. I bet the same tv is now 3-4k.

Thats too much, unless its normal where you live. I say 10-15% max for a standard product, otherwise I wont buy it.

quiet 12-02-2005 01:01 AM

have had a 55 inch sony xbr plasma hooked up to a hifi rotel system for over a year, no issues. i love that tv. better than going to the theatre.

Sorry, let me put it in English you will understand.: The warranty more than paid for itself. It saved me many dollars. I am glad I had it.

VAIRES 12-02-2005 01:28 AM

The idiots recommending DLP don't know even know what the fuck theyre talking about... wait let me take a moment to try and be surprised.

I spent about 2 hours comparing LCD, DLP and Plasma and I picked out a Plasma 42" as the best one available among like 80 differant tv's.
I really wanted a bigger one, 55" or so but the picture sucked

The picture is clear, crisp, and beautiful, and it only cost $3000 including a nice glass stand

Vitasoy 12-02-2005 01:45 AM

Should always buy a few years additional warranties for higher prices electronics
