Ive thought about this before. I have a friend who has a few of those. Ive wondered what they really mean.

I researched mine myself. Though I have always wondered if I fucked up somewhere. I have 6 Kanji symbols on my wrists. here are two of them.

i have one between my shoudler blades in red that says "sacrifice" which i got after i got back from iraq - however i had a friend from japan confirm the translation before i got the ink done.

i think alot of people go for charactures or kanji is because of the asthetics of how the language is written... it looks hell of alot cooler than the written english language.

actuallly tribal tattooing is no different... in many cultures certain tribals mean certain things... we as caucasions have no idea as to what the meaning may be... but we get them tatted on us anyway because the design is cool... for example you could be a guy, and have a tribal that denotes you as a mother or something else feminine, lol.
