SEO conventions?

Anyone know of any good SEO conventions? How often? Which ones to avoid? Any information at all? Not just for adult sites.

pocketkangaroo 12-02-2005 03:44 PM

I'll be at SES next week in Chicago.

You would be better off learning one on one from a pro like myself who can teach adult, mainstream, black hat etc.. see sig

This isn't just for me. A guy I do some work with was asking about it today. He can build nice sites etc, just doesn't understand enough SEO to go along with them to give his customers then best options.

Do you have a website for that?

icq 166708909 if you don't want to post it here.

Some SES info if you go wear your GFY hoodie

There's no real SEO expert who will tell you anything useful about SEO. People like jojojo are just making a quick buck selling info they've pulled off an SEO forum.

goodgirl is attending one in Vegas in January. She also regularly attends one in Chicago

lilspup 12-02-2005 06:06 PM

The one on Vegas is $1450 or something if you want to attend the seminars

We are also heading to Chicago for SES. Another great SE show is pubcon.

Sosa - all the SES and pubcons are good - but its just like any WM show - its a good place to network, a good place to hangout and get known, but the seminars and information will be restricted to what people want in the mainstream :)

pocketkangaroo 12-02-2005 09:32 PM

They are good if you are newer and looking to learn. It's also a real good place to network, find out about new products/advertisers, and even have a good time.

As for the price, it depends. If you learn something real valuable or meet up with the right people, that small cost can trump what you make from these shows.

Not to question your post, but if you are an SEO pro who has more information than the people speaking at these shows, why are you on here begging people for business and unable to pay small debts? Some of the better SEO guys I know don't seem to have that problem.

Actually I'm going to the SES Conference in Chicago on the 6th. The one in January is the Affiliate Summit.

baddog 12-02-2005 10:08 PM

never mind, wrong 6th

WiredGuy 12-05-2005 12:55 PM

SES and Pubcon are pretty good, but you gotta really work at these shows to get your money's worth.
