How can you tell Asians apart from each other by country
Japanese, Chinese, Korean, filipinos,Thai, Vietnamese
Does each country have strong Traits/Facial features |
Thai and Filipino are darker in complexion usually
Chinese are usually shorter....North China People are Taller, Whiter Korean are much whiter..... Usually Japanese have smaller eyes or big eyes...a bit xtreme |
I'm waiting for the "they all look the same to me"
|
I can tell the difference.
- Philipinos have darker skin and look almost Spanish. - Most Korean's eyes slant downwards - Japanese usually have fucked up teeth and rounder eyes - Vietnamese are generally smaller people and have large cheeks - Chinese have the most slanted eyes of the bunch - Thai are not as dark as Philipinos but darker than other Asians I can tell the difference 99% of the time and it freaks some people out. |
I'm half Asian and half German, so I guess it takes one to recognize one. I'm not sure how or why, I just can. And my post above wasn't meant to be mean or funny, those are actual facts. :2 cents:

very easy to tell.
and it isn't just looks, it's mannerisms, facial expressions, non verbal communication using facial expression, how they act in groups, cultural things like how they use a toothpick, how they pray, hair texture, way of walking, food preference, etc etc. and you wouldn't need to hear a sound from them to tell. |
i can tell pretty easy.
|
I get mistaken for Swedish alot.
|
skin color and shape of head.

I have a pretty good ability to usually guess the ethnicity of Asian people I meet. My wife (who is Japanese) is often surprised how often I am correct (ironically, she doesn't do as well).
I'm sure it helps having grown up in Hawaii, living in Japan for five years, and traveling extensively around Asia. Did I mention that I have photographed a few Asian women? :winkwink: ADG Webmaster |

A lot of asians can't even tell the difference. I have friends that are Chinese and Vietnamese and people mistake their race all the time.

I grew up in the SF Valley, and spent 3 years in Korea...
Hard to explain but I can spot them pretty easily and agree with much of what Rob mentioned. There are some subtle things you can listen for that will give clues as well... Overhearing conversations does a lot for me, I can generally follow a Korean discussion, and can pickout other languages fairly easily, ontop of the normal physical feature sorting... I REALLY need to make a trip over to Korea soon and pickup some more hand-made eelskin shoes...I love that smooth.soft stuff. The food is rocking too! :thumbsup |

They're probably genetic descendants of the Korean chicks that were captured and returned to Japan during some barbaric years. j/k (kinda)...just propogating a common discussion on that from a Korean perspective lol |

Genetically, most Japanese have proportionately shorter legs. It's something I learned in high school.

got only 7 correct, but some of those they try and trick you |
my girlfriend is chinese. Not all chinese people are even close to looking alike (china is VERY large). There is much mixing and whatnot near the borders. Plus you have to remember that there is chinese from china, chinese from Taiwan, chinese from Hong Kong... there are some differences.
I have friends in all groups... cambodian, vietnamese, thai, korean, and a number like Odie, mixes of this and that. They often can't tell themselves apart! Japanese and filipino are usually pretty easy to spot as they have fairly destinctive features, generation after generation on island nations tends to bring out strong traits. Koreans and thais for the most part have fairly strong features that can be spotted, but not all the time. Alex |
What is the chewing man? Chinese?
