I love this business ... unexpected / unexplained ratio fluctuations!

One of the things that seems to remain consistent in this biz is that at least a few times per month we have an insanely HIGH signup day, and and insanely LOW signup day. This month, we had 'em back to back lol ..

Yesterday: 2116 Raw Join Page Hits / 15 signups Ratio: 1:141

Today so Far: 1048 Raw Join Page Hits / 0 signups Ratio 0:1048

Our average with this sponsor over the last 4 months is in the 1:220 range, so yesterday was crazzy good, and today ...

Anyway, it's only 11am on the west coast, so still hope ... thought that GFY needed one more post about these strange occurences that we all experience.

:2 cents:

PS: Best advice on a horrible ratio day, WORK on other stuff and don't check stats until midnight lolll ..

send us your exit traffic and watch great days every day..

Yup Yesterday rocked.
10 signups, 1:300 ratio all day on everything.

I can't understand why the ratios should differ so much. I have the same problems.. but I do agree the best idea if it's looking shit just don't look at your stats and do something different..

I have never put too much stock in day to day ratios ever. You can be pumping 5 to 15+ signups a day to a sponsor and have the odd day where you only get 1, 2 or 0 signups.

I usually go by the ratio for a whole month, if I feel the need to look at ratios at all.

Ok we finally got one today lol ... so today we are 1:1300, but since yesterday was so great we're still at 1:220 raw for the week.

as long as we are on the subject, let me pass on something that struck me as funny from over the weekend:

[12:07] Webmaster X: CCBILL sales have become VERY unstable the last 48 hours .. after a good long solid period
[12:07] corvett: there must have been something wrong with ccbill during that good long period
[12:08] Webmaster X: Just what I was thinking

Two things tranza - can be one or both of em...

(a) very focussed traffic

(b) returning surfers with cookies set from weeks back..

It all levels out at the end of the day! :winkwink:

it's called "The Law of Averages"

Any business that relies on daily sales volume is going to experience fluctuations like that.

Biggy2 12-05-2005 04:42 PM

no matter what biz you are in, there will be fluctuations. you think a deli gets the same exact sales everyday.. you dont think they go thru random slow and great periods?
