GTS, why do you have a 3 months minimum when buying submit passes...

... seriously? I think I have read you have 90% retention somewhere (I might be wrong?), so I can't understand the reason. Whats the reson?

FreeHugeMovies 12-05-2005 03:09 PM

To improve their bottom line of course. It lessons the work load. I think it's smart on their side. I don't think GTS is hurting for selling PAs =]

OK! Thanks for the answer!

kaori 12-05-2005 03:11 PM

heh, yeah, it's too bad :)
I'm moving in a month and a half, and was just looking at buying a few submit passes for the next month :)
now I gotta wait about 3 months to make it worth my while..

karlm 12-05-2005 03:12 PM

Shame as you cant test them just for a month

BlackCrayon 12-05-2005 03:24 PM

its smart on their side sure, not good for testing it out tho and they know that.

tranza 12-05-2005 03:27 PM

Also because traffic may take a while to build up, so if you evaluate for 3 months you get a better idea.

:)

69pornlinks 12-05-2005 05:53 PM

they same reason some host have you to sign contracts

xclusive 12-05-2005 05:56 PM

Just smart business they have a uniqe product and they know how to make the most of it

abshard 12-05-2005 05:57 PM

You can buy a monthly recurring submit pass's with a credit card. Unless someting changed and they no longer accept credit cards?

phogirl69 12-05-2005 05:57 PM

When I bought my passes a while ago it was through myvirtualcard and those are still rebilling from month to month, but I noticed when I try and buy new passes you have to go for at least 3 months or commit to a term. Also the
myvirtualcard pages for submitpasses are down for maintenance.

I honestly much prefer going month to month....

Rice_Master 12-05-2005 05:58 PM

That is probably the main reason why I haven't bought any passes, if they believe in the product they're selling, why the minimum of 3 months? doesn't make sense.

Dirty F 12-05-2005 05:58 PM

I will pick some up as soon as i can buy them for a month with epass.

No matter if you pay by Epassporte or Merchant Account or wire it says
you MUST choose a term either 3 months, 6 months or 12 months. The option to pay for new accounts through myvirtualcard no longer works...

Ahh i see that now. But to be honest im kinda glad the cc option is no longer working..heres why

I have maybe got at most 10% of my submit pass accounts paying with that monthly recurring option and 20% of those orders have been cheaters, and most likely they have used fake/stolen credit cards. I think the cheaters are less likely to use epassporte to buy an account if they lose their money if caught cheating. With the cc option they dont lose anything if they use a fake card.

And the cheaters im talking about are the ones that submit a nice clean gallery then after its listed, the first click to the gallery is either a popup hell or fake movie gallery where the surfer is required to d/l a "codec" to view the movie because the video is black and all you hear is the sound which is most likely a dialer. then the second click to the gallery, it returns to a normal gallery.

Sooner or later it will be 1 month. Then I'll spend a lot more.

are there any hosts who still do that? most places are month to month these days.

Brad Mitchell 12-05-2005 07:26 PM

I think the easy answer is because they can. Because, really, that attracts more qualified customers and giving excellent support is important to them.

it kinda reminds me when networksolutions was the only domain registar, you had no other choice if you wanted a domain. just like you have no other choice if you want to be listed on the sites that sell through them.

I wouldn't be that harsh on it. Some of us do some things with our business that are unusual. Like with my hosting company, for example, I actually insist on talking to every client before they become a client. When I used to own SinTalk, I used to pre-screen all of the new affiliates prior to assigning them phone sex lines. Raising the barrier to entry just a little bit means that they don't get so many ass-hats jumbling up their time so they can spend more time with their established customers. Plus, I have to imagine that there is a reasonable argument to be made about the results after comitting to a longer period instead of a shorter one.

Just my :2 cents:

At the end of the day, I just think the folks at GTS are good people :thumbsup

probably for the same reason that almost everyone else selling memberships tries to lengthen the time between between rebills... customers will have a chance to cancel something every 30 days or every 90 days, so why give them the first option?

UniqueMovies 12-05-2005 08:19 PM

They have a huge monopoly in this part of the business and they are exploiting it. The only way to make things right is more competition.

GTS Mark 12-06-2005 06:17 AM

Hi guys, the reason we are doing only 3 month memberships is due to the fact we are having issues with our primary merchant account MVC, not because we are trying to make things difficult on you.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience, if anyone wants a one month pass please send me over an e-mail and I will try my best to accomodate you. I like to listen to what my customers want and obviously the one month account is a very popular item.

Thanks,
DH

GTS Mark 12-06-2005 06:17 AM

Brad, thanks for sticking up for us :)

Uniquemovies, we are not trying to exploit anything, we're just a company trying to do business and keep our customers happy as best as we can. There are plenty of options out there to buy traffic from different sources and partner accounts.

I simply don't appreciate this kind of comment.
