France is the #1 most visited country in the world

Year after year, more people visit France than any other country in teh world.

That's because when people "visit" America they don't leave.

People who visit France can't wait to get out.

France is awesome. I don't know what the problem is.

tranza 12-05-2005 03:12 PM

Where the hell did you read that?

I'm pretty sure the US is the #1 most visited country...

kaori 12-05-2005 03:12 PM

haha, yeah, there's a difference between 'going there' and 'living there' :)
people like to visit places that are different from where they live...

and I want those little silver frogs! :)

I can see that all that history and great food

Cory W 12-05-2005 03:18 PM

Think about that a second. What if every State in the US were a "different country?"

Where people want to visit and where it is reasonable to visit are two different deals. Now I have been to France and I love it, but I don't think it would be number 1 for any other reason than smaller size and proximity within Europe.

Sarah_Jayne 12-05-2005 03:48 PM

If you are taking the fairy from the UK to the mainland the nearest choice is France and because if you want to get to a lot of other countries you tend to drive through France. Now, add on having Paris, Disneyland, wine and the Rivera and they have it good for visitor numbers.

PaulB IYP 12-05-2005 03:51 PM

I love Paris....one of my favorite cities in the world

Candybear 12-05-2005 03:52 PM

Didn't care much for France.:(

CDSmith 12-05-2005 03:56 PM

This one time, I visited France, pulled out a pen knife to clean a fingernail, and everyone on the street put up their hands and surrendered.

Very true and to add to that list...

Great Shopping (Best clothes, shoes, bags, perfumes, cosmetics etc..)
Great Food and Dining ("French" fries oh yea) ;)
Great Art

France is hard to beat if you want an Old World experience.

baddog 12-05-2005 04:04 PM

visiting and passing thru are not really the same thing

gangbangjoe 12-05-2005 04:05 PM

all because of the cheese

It is a nice place CH! Especially if ya get out an see the actual country.

There are... or were... some amazing chateau's for sale - complete with original fittings, courtyard and stables etc. Asking prices were stupid cos the French seem to have the tendency to head for cities. It was not long ago some of these places were on the marker for around $75K upwards..

CDSmith 12-05-2005 04:11 PM

Then, on another street, at a sidewalk cafe, I popped a champagne cork and, well...

Sarah_Jayne 12-05-2005 04:52 PM

Heck..I am going to France on the weekend for the afternoon just to buy cheap booze for the Holiday parties I am having. British people do that all the time so that racks up the figures.

The problem with France is there are so many French there!

nico-t 12-05-2005 05:17 PM

people who bash france are sheep who never been there

ive been to france when i was a kid so i may criticize. I dont like the language it annoys me, i think its the most annoying sounding language in the world.

apart from that theres nothing wrong with france

CDSmith 12-05-2005 05:20 PM

...then later this kid pulled out a water pistol in a crowded market, and well... you can guess what happened next.

:D

xcitecash 12-05-2005 05:22 PM

I would try Iraq before France

Never saw it.

Did the French surrender in that one too? :D

Come on people.... let's keep a sense of humor about us shall we? It's not like anyone else's country hasn't been the brunt of a barrage of jokes before.

And.. don't get me started on the boneheadedness of that whole "Maginot line" incident. :1orglaugh

KingK7 12-05-2005 05:37 PM

Only good thing to come out of France was the Foreign Legion.

reynold 12-05-2005 05:54 PM

I thought it's Japan, though I really wanna visit that place as well.

Titan 12-05-2005 06:04 PM

The US probably doesn't get that many visits because its not really central to any population. You can come from Canada (sparsely populated) or Mexico (poor can't afford it). Everyone else is in for a long ass airplane ride. France is surrounded by high population countries with open borders and is a central port when entering Europe.
