Actually read a study that this guy did that said the best results were URLs between 11-30 characters

News flash: there are other SE's out there. Start building for Google, let the others pich you up, and by the time that 9 months has passed you have some nice links with age behind them.

I don't know why you think 6-9 months is that long. That isn't shit in SEO.

Amnesic 12-07-2005 12:38 AM

you guys are fuckheads

sixone 12-07-2005 12:38 AM

it can not hurt...it can actually help a little if use keywords and seperate them with anchors.

this is very much a debatable topic among the SEO community.

Hardlinks 12-07-2005 12:39 AM

iwantanewgirlfriend

19 letters, he did pretty well with it in the engines.

6-9 months is a fuck of a long time with the engines.

A whole update can come and go across everyone of them in that time frame.

You take the good, you take the bad
you take them both, and there you have

The facts of life, the facts of life.

:1orglaugh exactly.

bdld 12-07-2005 12:43 AM

there's many reasons why you're not ranking high probably, but your domain name length is certainly not one of them.

thanks mate, thats the kind of info i wanted ot hear, this is my first 10+ characters domain and I was really wondering if it was a factor. Would have started over :)

I was wondering also if google think the keyword is in the url if there is more then 1 word but no hyphens.

Amnesic 12-07-2005 12:49 AM

It was just a question, you guys assume way to many things.

Of course they see it. Search for porn and youll see the 4th result has porn in the url with no hyphen, google highlights it to show you its in the url in your serps.

Im not saying it has weight or not, just telling you that they do in fact see it.

SAM SIYC 12-07-2005 12:53 AM

15 should not be a problem.....try to look elsewhere!

not my site btw

Hardlinks 12-07-2005 01:01 AM

yes it will.

Amnesic 12-07-2005 01:03 AM

hardlink you got icq?

96ukssob 12-07-2005 01:09 AM

Domain length doesnt matter unless you plan on repeating the same keyword(s) over and over.... plus your url should have some relation to what your site is.

such as if you sponsor mature porn you can successfully get a domain like oldmatureladypornvideos.com. but one like freeoldfreematurefreeporndownloadnow.com wont (stop words "free" overused)

I always recommend people to buy domains that are "radio spoken" meaning that if you were to tell someone your domain, you dont want to say "free dash teen dash dash porn two... the number two not spelled out two dot org." so if you plan is to keyword stuff into the domain, dont bother. plus keep in mind that keywords into the domain are only a fracton of what you need to do. If you main concern is to make sure your keywords are in the domain for only that purpose your better (and no other seo work) off just using a subdomain from a geocities account.

no offense, but i see this all the time. people buy long worthless domains because they think that will rank them high. I have seen domains with popular searches and random stuff such as "mortgagequotesfreeteenporn.com [not actual domainnn]" or crap like that because they think having the keyword in the url is key.

so to answer your question... i would not go over 15 chars

Thanks for the reply

Dont worry im doing a lot of on page and off page seo on this website. I think my domain give me the best of all aspect. Not bad for a type in, the keywords are there, no worries it will do the job.

My only problem now, is to optimise the post with their own keyword and the main page keyword at the same time.

its a blog

You should be seeing some SE results from even a brand new blog almost immediately. Do some research on that. :upsidedow
