Can't you just say YOU'RE WELCOME?????

What is it with people? I've noticed lately that when I say "thank you" I get "huh huh" or "no problem" what ever happened to good old "you're welcome" It's become a pet peeve of mine!

EviLGuY 12-07-2005 08:20 AM

I am totally with you on this one. It annoys me more in person then online though.

Than online.

Tom_PM 12-07-2005 08:24 AM

I always say "you're welcome" after I get a "thanks" or "thank you". I like to get the last word anyway, lmao ;)

pornpf69 12-07-2005 08:25 AM

I thought that the answer for thank you was no problem....hyeheheh

Phoenix 12-07-2005 08:25 AM

i say Chumon a yo

MickeyG 12-07-2005 08:27 AM

is this really what you spend your days thinking about? :1orglaugh

EroticySteve 12-07-2005 08:29 AM

"No Problem" is acceptable to me. It's the "Yup" or the "uh huh" or the no response at all that bother me. Manners are gone.

Parents suck these days.

blazin 12-07-2005 08:29 AM

Most people don't even say Thank you

Tala 12-07-2005 08:32 AM

I can handle the "no problem" because I take that at face value. If they say it was no problem, then I didn't ask for something impossible.

I'd like to hear more of "thank you" though. I appreciate it when someone thanks me for someting. :)

ronaldo 12-07-2005 08:35 AM

I dislike "np" as a replacement for "You're welcome", and I always make a point of saying "You're welcome", or "You're very welcome."

xclusive 12-07-2005 08:41 AM

People in general just have piss poor manners these days:(

What pisses me off more is not even getting a thank you when I do something for someone. The other day I held the door open at a sushi place for a family of four and not one of those fuckers said thanks.

Tera 12-07-2005 09:37 AM

My uncle has this same pet peeve, and I am guilty of saying no problem. Although since my uncle pointed it out I try and say You're Welcome more often. Old habbits die hard though

CamRabbit 12-07-2005 09:46 AM

No problem is same as you are welcome. It is no less polite.

Wiggles 12-07-2005 10:28 AM

i always say 'no problem', didn't realize this annoyed people.

Maxy 12-07-2005 10:39 AM

Yeah I fuckin hate that. And I still keep saying thank you to the same people. :(

Donny 12-07-2005 10:48 AM

For some reason it bothers me to say "you're welcome". I always say no problem or, even shorter, "no prob".

In Spanish, the translation is closest to "Don't mention it".

For what No Problemo

GFX Wiz 12-07-2005 10:53 AM

I couldn't agree with you more, Funbrunette!

LauraLee 12-07-2005 10:59 AM

Funbrunette I agree with you and this is one of my pet peeves as well.
I always say 'thank you' and 'your welcome' when the time is appropriate.

God Bless having parents who raised me with manners.

RuthB 12-07-2005 11:01 AM

I thought I had good manners, but based on this I guess I don't! :Oh crap

In person I'm more inclined to say 'you're welcome' or 'no worries' than anything else

Online it's about getting the responses out promptly and that often results in 'anytime' or 'no problem/np'

I can tolerate "No problem", but when the only response I get to a thank you is a curt "np", I just find it incredibly rude.

It would take less than 5 seconds to type out No problem OR You're welcome, so I don't see that being a time management issue like you suggest.

I'm one of the dreaded "no worries" or "no problem" people...but I don't get enough thank you's to give out too many anyways

IWantU_Jeff 12-07-2005 12:02 PM

Im a "no problem", "yeah sure", "forgeddabodit" or "anytime"

but its pretty much the same thing no? Usually said to people that are thanking you for something that really wasnt a problem for you to do. I think Your Welcomes are saved now for the biggies, when the thank you was really well deserved :winkwink:

No, the formal response:

No hay de que.

Doctor Dre 12-07-2005 12:09 PM

I always say "No problems" ... well most of the time

shermo 12-07-2005 12:12 PM

I'm guilty of that... It drives people crazy... I think it may be something that we pick up out here on the west coast because the majority of my friends do the same thing, and I've noticed that most people in Vegas and Cali do the same.

Thank you for tthis comment :)

pornguy 12-07-2005 12:19 PM

Oh fuck off.

Now your welcome.

Gnat69 12-07-2005 12:31 PM

I rarely say no problem it is more "no worries" but if someone has done something for me then it is always thanks, thank you. I think it is a matter of respect for me anyway.....(c:

WiredGuy 12-07-2005 01:21 PM

I'm guilty of saying no problem instead of you're welcome, sorry !

I'm a little lost here. Someone does something for you and you say thank you. Then you get pissed if the person doing something nice for you doesn't say you're welcome properly? Damn if people are gonna get mad I won't do anythign for them to thank me for in the first place.

PenisFace 12-07-2005 01:31 PM

I couldn't care less what people say to me if I say thank you. If they say something, hey at least they said something at all. I say no problem when people thank me, because it makes it seem like it was less of a hassle for me to do whatever they asked me to do. If I said, "you're welcome", I feel like they'll think I had to take time out of something I was already doing.

No problem = Hey no worries!
You're welcome = I was doing something else, but I still took time to help you.
