Yah right right ... what's better then illustrator ? coreldraw is the only good competition right now ... and what's better then photoshop ? or after effects ? or premiere ?

EdgeXXX 12-07-2005 02:26 PM

That's old news. If you want to start a monopoly-watch, look at Autodesk who just bought Discreet (3DS Max) AND ALIAS (Maya)

While I agree with your main point, that they put out a lot of quality software, they also put out Acrobat Reader, which is in many ways a terrible piece of software. Not just technically, but in terms of policies, including built-in spyware, reduced support for non-Microsoft browsers, patent abuse to restrict competitors, a DRM implementation that cripples the functionality of the software, branding that pops up uncontrollably, paid placement to pre-infect Windows PCs, difficulty disabling it, and so on. Hopefully they won't spread Acrobat Reader's worst features to Flash players.

I agree that this sucks ... but reader itself does a great job for printers (keeps the optimal quality while making the display on screen very easy for clients to see).

I always hated acrobat thought. I hope they don't do any crap like that in flash.
