Who has a Treo phone?

How do you like it? I am about to pull the trigger on a new phone. With the news on RIM coming in, I am a bit leary of getting a blackberry. Oh and can ICQ work on a Treo? And have they gotten it so email comes in on the fly instead of having to sync?

Thanks

The newest model comes out in Feb for Verizon.
I have the treo 650 and I couldn't live without it.

Ya, and it will make a great paper weight, too, once they are forced to halt service.

Wait for the Treo 700 should be out next year, although the 700 isn't going to run palm OS, it will be MicroCrap.

My wife has one and I fucking hate the thing. But she says she "needs" it because shes a realtor. Its too complicated for me... I prefer a cell phone that just has the regular numbers and a send button.

Ah so, I don't think I would be able to sync with a mac... good to know.

They will be coming out with both versions.
The Treo 700w (Windows Mobile) and Treo 700p (PalmOS)
Both sharing the same hardware design.

The coolest features I enjoy are the ability to connect remotely with my PC at home (PalmVNC), and also being able to connect my laptop to the internet(PDANet). PalmVNC is free and PDNet was $30 I think.

You can download other utilities that will allow you to use most of the messenger services (ICQ, MSN, AOL, and Yahoo)

The internet browser is actually very good too!

I would personally wait for the new 700 to come out, but either way the Treo is the way to go. I tried several different phones, and the Treo is my favorite for sure. Good Luck!

Actually, theres a couple software packages out there that will sync PocketPC to Mac.. only downside is its another 30-40 bucks you have to shell out.. but Mac users are used to paying more anyways:P

Heres one:

Another cool thing you can do with a Treo (might be possible with a pocketPC to but a treo is what i have) is using the remote control software (you have to download this). My Treo works as a remote control to my tv:) Also works for X10 devices.. so you can use your phone to control your house lights etc.

Appears almost certain that both the Treo 700w (Windows Mobile) and Treo 700p (PalmOS) will share exactly the same hardware design ? a ?squared? version of the Treo 650

A recent investment report by Sagio Investments, one of the largest Palm shareholders, covers Palm?s current business strategy and more importantly provides more details on future Treo releases for 2006 below.

* January 2006: Treo 700w (WM 5.0, ED-VO) exclusively from Verizon
* January 2006: Treo 700p (Palm OS) exclusively from Sprint
* March-May 2006: "Hollywood" - a fancier 3G/GSM smartphone without external antenna to appeal to European customers; in US likely to be launched by Cingular
* March-May 2006: "Lowrider" - a sub-$300 device and entry-level PDA, compatible to previous-generation network radios

Specifically the report also states that ?We know that PALM will introduce four new models in CY 06. In January they will introduce the already announced Treo 700 Windows which will be a Verizon exclusivity it will be the first EV-DO Treo on the market. Around the same time we believe PALM will launch a Treo 700p running PALM OS on the Sprint network, both devices will keep same form factor and will capitalize on the Treo strong foothold in the US enterprise Market.?

I've been waiting for the 700 for a couple months now. I'm losing patience.
