Anyone involved in Martial arts out there????

I just started taking classes in Muay Thai to supplement my regular work out -all I have to say is I am sore as HELL. Using completely different muscles than I'm used to and my gawd I'm hurting today. Well if anyone else is into martial arts I'd love to know - maybe we can spar sometime :winkwink:

Denis_SC 12-08-2005 10:54 AM

Abithefiend 12-08-2005 11:03 AM

I did karate for almost three years but not done it for some time due to a knee injury.

Odie 12-08-2005 11:04 AM

15 years of Muay Thai helped keep me in shape... I just wish I had the time to do it more than I do now but what a great workout!!

good luck with that! I hope you have "true" muay thai teacher cuz if ya don't then it ain't MUAY THAI! :)

NoWhErE 12-08-2005 11:04 AM

I did about 8 years of karate, some Jiu-Jitsu and some Kung-Fu.

I love Martial Arts and wish I had the time to continue doing them

dig420 12-08-2005 11:14 AM

I'm a BJJ blue belt. MT is too painful at my age.

PornAddict 12-08-2005 12:01 PM

I studied Hapkido for several years and I loved it. It's been a while since I practiced but the fundementals are still deeply woven into my brain. I'd love to eventually start up training again.

I was doing thai box for 6 years, but had to give it up because I've hurt my knee

lilspup 12-08-2005 12:27 PM

I did Taekwondo and American Freestyle Karate for 4 years. I'm into Shaolin Kung Fu now. I love martial arts.

Deepai 12-08-2005 12:28 PM

I don't take any martial arts, but I'd still kick your ass Mario. Don't ever forget that.

Platinum Nick 12-08-2005 02:51 PM

I took Karate for two years back when I was 12 - was a real bad ass but they sure taught me discipline and respect. I always recommend the martial arts for young kids especially mis-behanved or wild ones.

Mario I am going to come over and spar with you right now in the office, promise I wont hurt you too badly ok? lol

I pratice Capoeira here in Tucson. The infamous fight dance. I been training five years, just got back into it after a 6 mo layoff. I love it teaches strength, agility, music, song and family. The chix like to wear tight work out pants which is just an added bonus.

Outskie

I've been doing kickboxing for almost six months now and love it to bits. It's a great workout, but yeah, the first three weeks or so I was SO sore the day after class. After that, though, my body got used to the new movements and the soreness went away.

Be one with the Tiger Balm, grasshopper.

JoeMeca 12-08-2005 03:17 PM

shaolin kempo kung-fu about 9 years now

Kevsh 12-08-2005 03:32 PM

I'm curious where you're training Mario? I'm looking for something new in the Toronto area - a good friend of mine teaches Wing Chun kung-fu from his home but he's way out in the east end (I can't convince him to do outcalls lol)

MikeyFingaz 12-08-2005 08:10 PM

boxing, muay thai, submission grappling mixed with gnp.

... i think some of the gfy'ers are gonna start doing a little knowledge exchange sessions at the conventions when there is time... i know that anthony is interested for sure & he says lots of gfy'ers actually train, so it should be pretty cool... plus, it'll give those participating a chance to get ta know each other too:thumbsup:

but you fuckers will have to go easy on me til florida, lol... im in too bad of shape right now, but i been trying ta get back into it.

Babagirls 12-08-2005 08:13 PM

reynold 12-08-2005 09:36 PM

BigCashCrew 12-08-2005 09:41 PM

Where is The_Senator at? :)

ModelPerfect 12-08-2005 10:04 PM

Just about every major decision in my life has revolved around the martial arts in one way or another.

DirtyRider 12-08-2005 10:08 PM

Mario, what gym did you train at? Ultimate? Rebellion? Siam?

Aquarius 12-08-2005 10:08 PM

I used to practice Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, fucking awesome.

TheSenator 12-08-2005 10:18 PM

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu the most realistic self defense system on the planet.

TheSenator 12-08-2005 10:20 PM

I'll climb your back like a monkey and choke you out.

sonofsam 12-08-2005 10:22 PM

For the record, i challenged the Gracie family to a 4 of them on me handicap match, and they backed down from me :2 cents:

You can walk into any Gracie owned academy and talk to them about it, that's an issue they never tire of discussing.

Stamen 12-09-2005 01:03 AM

Muay Thai, BJJ, and San Soo, about 5 years now.

Did Wrestling in High School and Pankration for about 2 years. Kickboxing is tough as shit and will surely get you in shape and increase your pain tolerance! We'll have to spar sometime! Just remember I'm a delicate man. :thumbsup
