core = bare bones
premium = all the bells and whistles

core has no hd(no playing old xbox games), no hdtv cables, no xbox live membership, and a wired controller instead of wireless
its more to add these things later so go with the better package

With Premium, it crashes every 10 minutes instead of 5.

And when it crashes, you can still listen to the MP3's.

Premium is nice.. I am really loving the wireless controller.
