NTLDR is missing....HELP!
trying to load xp on a desktop - when it tries to boot it says: Boot from CD : twice and then CDBOOT: Couldn't find NTLDR
I then get 'NTLDR is missing error'.... I'm not a expert but I've tried a few different things. The computer didn't work when I got it so I don't know what os was on it but from the problem it would appear to have been 95' - It has a cd drive as the primary - dvd rom as slave - 40gb 'freshly formated' hd - I'm trying to load xp from the dvd-rom drive. I was told to find and copy - Ntldr(dot)exe, boot(dot)ini, and NTDETECT(dot)COM from a different cpu - to a disk and load from there but I can't find the [ntldr] or [boot] files - any suggestions??? :helpme |
Throw it away and buy a new one. Not worth the problems.

"I'm trying to load xp from the dvd-rom drive"
Load it from the cd-rom If you can't figure it out beyond that, you need to make start up disks & boot from floppy, it'll be about 6 disks (if i remember correctly) just type "xp startup disks" in google |
dvd disc

Your XP disk is probably messed up.

happens sometimes ...
boot with a win98 or millenium start up. once loaded at the prompt: fdisk then: delete partitions then reboot I think ( or later) then: create partition etc.... try then to boot from the XP cd on reboot ... You could also format the drive after all the " fdisk" shit .... |
