i got my first tank when i was 10, a 10-gallon -- it came w/6 feeder goldfish (rescued from a fate named Oscar, prolly) and some cheap colored gravel and shit. i was a happy kid! -- i have had as big as a 500 gallon reef tanks, the one you see ablove is my first since i left ny in 1998 -- it's really kind of a big deal, very sentimental -- been wanting a tank for a while -- jonesing you might say -- just got it last week -- i have two rosy barbs, two tiger barbs, two zebras and two white clouds -- yes, i know that's a bit crowded. well, as soon as i can turn some of my bulllshit google rhetoric into some breathing cash, i would like to get something like this -- which is my current wallpaper:

Are those neon tetras in there? When I was a kid, I had about 6 large tanks in my bedroom. I was always in awe when my molllys or guppies gave birth. One of my gold fish was preggers once and the guy at the place I bought my fish at said I needed to get her to lay her eggs on a net and then rub the males underside so it would ejaculate over the eggs. I never did have goldfish babies needless to say, but it wasn't for lack of trying!

Yes, I believe they are. I really cannot exaggerate the significance of aquarium fish in my life, or convey how awfully nice it is to have a tank again after 7 years without.

I got hooked, you might say, around 8 or 9 -- every year we'd go to my uncle Ed's for New Year's. The party was in the basement, which was all hooked up for partying Dominican style, which is what my mom's side is. But, I'd get bored and want to go think my little dark, broody thoughts -- so I'd go upstairs to the living room, which was very nicely furnished, but all in darkness -- save for the glow that came from this old metaframe ten gallon with a yellow bulb over a dense growth of live plants. it was mesmerizing. the ours i spent alone staring into the mysterious depths of that tank are among the most formative and, i would say happiest, of my life. the return of fish to my life, at nearly 40 years old, has brought some of that back. Do i seem happier to you -- :)

I've always wanted an aquarium, closest I've come is siamese fighting fish... I've got a tank now but my turtle is in it.
