i would seriously consider not running apache2, it lacks major modules that 1.x has, 2.x is in development stages. i think you may run into problems. 1.x has a lot more advantages than 2.x if you need the stuff 1.x has, you wont find them in ver 2

current plan is to downgrade to 1.3

Apache2 can do that fine, although you need to change the default settings and upgrade to v2.2.x as it has mod_mem_cache enabled. You should pick a host that deals with high traffic sites, e.g RCN.

i own my own hardware not looking for manged hosting i have a tech that is just on vacation right now and i dont feel like waiting :)

Since I've avoide apache2.x for some time due to stability problems in the past, I went and looked at mod_mem_cache. My opinion is simple: wait for it to get out of fucking expirmental mode before rolling it to your production servers.

i fully agree my tech installed apache 2 without me even knowing it will get a ass reaming once he gets back from vacation :)
