What's wrong at CCNow..?

The main page www.ccnow.com was an "under construction" page yesterday, today it's 404, and order processing seems to be down. Does anyone know what's going on?

They were hacked

I use them for my Sunglasses Site - so I don't know why I received this email.

I hope something funny isn't going on here - I have over $3000 in my CCNow account as of right now. :uhoh

I'm assuming they had some kind of failure because this is so sudden, but I would have expected them to have had something up by now.

I'm not aware of them changing their policy on adult content, but it seems more companies are finding it difficult to seperate their own moral values with business.

Asshole will be out of business in the next year anyways

They were bought by Digital River.

Turboface 04-04-2002 02:34 PM

You're right! - Here's an article on it here.

Last I heard, CCNow was bought up by Inuity a few months ago - but it looks like Digital River just bought them recently. Here's another article here.

I quote:
"This acquisition is a continuation of our strategy to build critical mass in the SME market, adding thousands of clients to Digital River's e-commerce platform," said Joel Ronning, Digital River's CEO. "As we execute against our acquisition strategy, we've demonstrated that we know how to drive revenues and volume through our e-commerce system while maximizing efficiencies and resources both for Digital River and our clients. This is a business model that works because it's built to scale and it's based on an outsourcing proposition that makes strong financial sense."

I don't know how a business goes about "maximizing efficiencies and resources both for Digital River and our clients" when the CCNow site is 404 and processing is down.

CCNow just sent me this:

Subject: Unplanned CCNow Outage
To: Innuity System Status <[email protected]>

-----------------------
CCNow recently experienced difficulty with the routing to our site
[www.ccnow.com] and our shopping carts for check out by consumers. This
issue is a result of an error made by our DNS vendor in redirecting the
traffic that was meant to go to the CCNow.com domain [including the CCNow
Home Site, the CCNow Administration Site and Shopping Cart Check-outs] to a
blank/under construction page hosted by a company called Verisign. We worked
quickly with the vendor to change the routing back to the correct route but
this change will take up to 24 hours to propogate throughout the Internet.
Based upon the information from our vendor, this propagation cycle should be
complete by 04/05/2002 2 a.m. CST. You and your customers will be able to
gain access to the CCNow site soon, the actual timing will depend on when
and where you or your customer are physically located and when your ISP has
updated their DNS registry.

This does not impact other operations within CCNow or its system. All
systems [including CCNow Home Site, the CCNow Administration Site and
Shopping Cart Check-outs and email system] are still live and active,
although the routing to the system has been compromised by the DNS issues.
We regret any incovenience this may have caused you or your customers.

It sounds like the were hacked - but look at this. Coincenence? I am getting a bad feeling about all this. Those guys better not try and fuck me. :feels-hot

shunga 04-05-2002 11:38 AM

I received that, too. A day or two late, but better late than never.

Turboface 04-05-2002 11:52 AM

CCNow must be fixing their DNS probs - I can't get onto their site at all, but I have gotten a few orders from Europe last night. So it looks like as soon as their DNS updates, all will be fine. That should be sometime today.
