Training Day

Who saw the movie "Training Day" yet? I saw it tonight for the first time. It was one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. I also watched 13 ghosts, which was a pretty good movie too.

My girlfriend was soo spooked over 13 ghosts that she actually took a marker and drew on the glass doors of the shower after she saw it.

DigitalPimpShit 04-05-2002 01:03 AM

oh let me tell you about racist, I live in a redneck town and I had to go to the next town to find a copy of "Baby Boy".
The clerks in the store in my neighborhood had never even heard of it.

proffitmaster 04-05-2002 01:09 AM

Movie was ok but not the best. I liked SWORDFISH much better.

Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke were both great in Training Day

13 Ghosts had amazing effects and a really good art director, but i found the screenplay wasn't strong enough to elevate this movie to the level that it could have obtained

and Joe Blow i watch EVERYTHING, but my favorites are usually foreign films

the difference between a foreign film or television show is that they tend to create more believable characters, put more emphasis on the script and only utilize elements of special effects or action if it will enhance the finished product

it also comes as no surprise that most of the top actors come from the UK - the competition is stiff, the training is long and tedious and it has an extensive history in this field to draw upon

if you ever want to compare...i suggest you watch Steven Soderbergh?s version of Blow and then watch the original (6 hours long) that was made in Europe - it will be very clear which one was the better film
:winkwink:

Rocky:

You must like "Gangster Number 1" then...

and a good foreign flick... how about "Fireworks"

:BangBang:

Training Day was funny... when Ethan Hawke first gets in the car and Denzel says "this is the office" and flips the hydraulics and the Dre starts pumping and they take off and Ethan Hawke is all bobbing around in the car acting bewildered - hilarious... actuall the funniest part is whe they stop in the middle of the intersection and Denzel makes him smoke the pipe..

LOL

Gangster Number 1 is one of my favorite movies

haven't seen Fireworks...YET

really enjoyed the Australian film, Chopper, about the real-life Australian convict Mark "Chopper" Read

my favorite movie from China is, Shower, directed by Zhang Yang

two films i really enjoyed from the U.S. was Smoke Signals (a few years old) and Before Night Falls, directed by Julian Schnabel

Swedish director Lasse Hallström's, Chocolat, was brilliant

lots of Italian films to choose from but i really enjoyed the story and tempo of both, Il Postino and Cinema Paradiso

very few to choose from that are Canadian made but my two favorites would be Jesus of Montreal (i love all of Denys Arcands' films) and Whale Music

can't beat the Dutch film, Everybody's Famous!

and the list goes on and on....

:winkwink:

Slick 04-05-2002 08:29 AM

I thought that it was a pretty good movie. I didn't really care for how fucked up it was towards the end, but overall it was pretty good. I guess that I wasn't expecting it to be like that.
