King Kong: Not worth it

Just saw it. Well, the movie is FAR from a masterpiece.
Its just another remake with sub LOTR effects.

What else can i say, its way tooo long.
Great acting, poor editing.

The Duck 12-29-2005 07:12 PM

Bad bad movie..

mikesinner 12-29-2005 07:25 PM

I downloaded and saved my $5

The Ghost 12-29-2005 07:31 PM

I liked it and thought it was entertaining.

xNetworx 12-29-2005 08:58 PM

That movie was pure action... if you didn't like the movie, you still have to admit there was Grade A action.

banshee will be here soon :)

Donny 12-29-2005 09:03 PM

Donny and Belinda thought it was great. :)

wedouglas 12-29-2005 09:04 PM

I enjoyed it. The only CG that I really didn't like was the Dinosaurs running over the people.

I thought Kong was awsome. The guy who voiced and motion capatured Gollumn in LOTR also VOICE and motion captured Kong.

Apparently they had something that took your voice and processed it to Kong.

I give the film a B+

butterflybucks 12-29-2005 09:29 PM

I really thought it was a good flicky flick

I wonder how this 'failure' (relative term) will impact Peter Jackson's career.

Nookster 12-29-2005 09:39 PM

I thought it was great...and watch, it's going to win awards. :2 cents:

it is making money...so not much

M.D.P. 12-29-2005 10:34 PM

Great fucking movie.

Stamen 12-29-2005 11:16 PM

The movie would have been awesome if they had only shortened it to about 2 hours, cut out some of the dino and boat ride stuff. Keep all the New York stuff because that is when the movie really took off and was great.

ffmihai 12-29-2005 11:34 PM

the movie is nice and has very good efects!

$5 submissions 12-29-2005 11:36 PM

All I know is I hope Jackson does a live action version of "The Hobbit" or... pressing my luck, the Silmarillon (epic Tolkien novel).

cmos 12-30-2005 12:20 AM

Yes not a masterpiece but a good movie.

It is getting good reviews, so it won't do anything to it.

PenisFace 12-30-2005 12:46 AM

IF the movie is anything like the game, which was rad, then the movie should be a nonstop action flick - Just my kinda movie :pimp

Slap Dot 12-30-2005 12:47 AM

It was awesome..

Belinda 12-30-2005 12:49 AM

I dunno... Even as a kid I always thought that the entire concept of a huge gorilla was sorta stooopid.

I fell off my chair when I heard this Jack was making a new version of it...
It doesn't tempt me to see it at the theater.... but I'll probably end up getting it on DVD, perhaps.

Just like the film Titanic... Didn't bother watching that either.
I know the ending already sort of... just some sloppy "love" stuff in the middle minus the tits and ass.

Godzilla on the other hand... at least there you have a form of logic as to where this creature came from.
Nuclear fallout that increased cell size and mutations of an amphibious animal.
Then it kills stuff.

But this gorilla guy....??? Falling in love with a normal sized girl???
What's he gonna do, grope her tits and beat his chest, then empty his nuts over her face?
Doubt it... but that's a good angle for a new porn film! :pimp

Nilsy42 12-30-2005 03:40 AM

pornversion?

Actually, I think it's about time to introduce Mrs King Kong.
So the two of them can climb up yet another building in the middle of NY and hump so the entire city can watch! Haha :1orglaugh

MattOT 12-30-2005 03:49 AM

Saw it last nite,I liked the film maybe a little long And how did the get kong on the boat? donno if i fell asleep at that point

I totally agree.

Reviews here are quite good though... I just don't understand !

ezrydn 12-30-2005 06:23 AM

Please, tell me the name of any REMAKE that was as good if not better than the ORIGINAL! Why waste your fucking bucks? Your eyes really that big? Wait for Blockbuster!

psili 12-30-2005 07:18 AM

First movie I ever fell asleep in.

Never knew I hated the whole "King Kong" story line so much.
And the "action" - did nothing for me. In fact, I thought the CG wasn't that well done.

Pryda 12-30-2005 07:27 AM

One of the best movies of 2005 imo. Jaw-dropping action.

~Ray 12-30-2005 08:15 AM

it's better than Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure part 2

my problem with this scene was the fact they could keep up with the dinosaurs. They could easily run 40 or 50 kph.. but a person can only run.. what maybe 10, 15kph? that is what made it unrealistic for me.

Awesome movie though - I was thoroughly entertained... very well cast and acted.

Luc 12-30-2005 10:10 AM

i agree. it sucked balls. special effects were nothing special, CGI looked crappy.

acting was so-so.

i regret spending $7.50 on this crap ass movie.

Yeah, thats why at the New York premier of the movie, George Lucas goes up to Peter Jackson, and the first thing Lucas says to Peter is, "You've raised the bar."

The CGI and special effects are light years ahead of everyone else. There were only a few times in the entire movie that it got spotty, and one of them was the bronto chase when the brontos rounded the mountain bend. And I think the only reason it got spotty those few times was because there was just so very much CGI to contend with. You'd swear Kong himself was alive, it was so well done.

If you go into the movie wanting to see something like "Raiders of the Lost Ark", something spectacular, you'll come out elated with what you saw. Not only that, there are some very special touches in the film, some unexpectadly moving moments that come out of nowhere. But to complain about the overall CGI in this movie is just ridiculous and silly. I think even George Lucas would be laughing at that comment, especially with his ILM special effects studio trying now to catch up with Jackson's WETA studio.

Sarah_Jayne 12-30-2005 10:44 AM

it is like people that say the cgi wasn't that great forget that Kong was CGI.

Holly Lez! 12-30-2005 10:46 AM

King Kong 2005 was way better then this....http://www.worldsgreatestcritic.com/...ongugojira.jpg

ah, the lovely sarah is back. hi sarah :)

also, if the cgi is as bad as the previous poster said, why did some people in the theater nearly barf, and everybody cringed, at the slug/leetch scene in the spider pit? no, the cgi wasn't perfect in only a few parts with a movie completely filled with cgi, but most industry observers know that this movie has the most spectacular and best special effects in motion picture history.

i think one of the things that is really happening is that ppl are judging this movie next to the LOTR franchise. its not LOTR. its more in the vein of Raiders of the Lost Ark crossed with some of the tragedy in Titanic.

phpslave 12-30-2005 10:52 AM

King kong was great, you have to take it for what it is though, "KING KONG", same as the Hulk was great but you had to remember you went to watch the hulk, not saving private ryan.

;-)

FREE 1 minute clip of Kong's battle with the 3 T-Rexes. Then judge for yourself if the effects suck or not.

I second that. We dont like it when people still our work, content, etc. without paying for it but some seem to find it perfectly acceptable to rip someone else off by the same process. If you cant afford 6 or 8, hell even $10 bucks to see a show you should probably shoot yourself anyways because your life took a wrong turn somewhere and you are obviously a failure.

WebairGerard 12-30-2005 11:00 AM

Going to see it tomorrow. I loved the original so I have to check this out. I think Peter Jackson is great too so we'll see...

Adam 12-30-2005 11:07 AM

I am going to see it, I have heard that its a great movie!

And in My opinion that kind of movie you have to see in the theatre, watching it on your computer does not do it justice!
