Paysite operators, are you going to increase prices in 2006?

I'm curious, are other paysite operators considering membership price increases in 2006?

I opened my site in spring 2001 and increased my price once, by 10%, in spring 2004. It didn't seem to affect sales noticeably.

I'm considering another 10% increase in 2006. Members want more and more high-quality exclusive content. And the legal risks have increased considerably now that the far right has ramped up it's war on personal liberties - I think I need to increase the size of my emergency legal fund. And I think one of the biggest mistakes business owners make is to undervalue their own product. It would also put more money, another 10%, in the pockets of my affiliates - assuming that sales don't drop as a result of the increase. I also think it might be wise to save at a greater rate in case the world as we know it comes to an end and Visa stops taking adult transactions or something nightmarish like that. And to top it all off, the US-to-Canadian dollar exchange rate is killing me. So I am seriously thinking of increasing my prices again, sometime next year.

Will we see price increases from other paysites in 2006? Or is all the free porn out there, and other market factors, going to hold prices down? What are other paysite operators thinking for 2006?

I've already got mine at $34.99 a month. I'm waiting for people to catch up to me.

we are still on 29.95 but with the increase of content lately it is more then normal that we will up the to 35 or higher. giving them access to 30+ niches.

For a couple of months we dropped our price from $29.95 to $14.74. Sales went down. When we went back to $29.95, sales went back up.

It seems that consumers sometimes have a perception that when it costs more, it's worth more. Actually, if you read a lot of the clothing / watch / car threads on this board, it seems to be a wide-reaching fact.

I offer more pricing options, the affiliate can send his traffic to any price he wants.

I had a similar experience promoting a site. I got better conversions off montly memberships then using trials.

to be honest, there are not big differences...I personally prefer $34.95, but there are occasions where a small price can do its job(various special offers, etc)

Ace_luffy 12-30-2005 09:32 AM

it's part of the business

BVF 12-30-2005 09:36 AM

I used to charge 19.95...then i charged 24.95 for most of 2005 and changed it to 29.95 a month ago...Come 2007 I'll raise it to 34.95

seeric 12-30-2005 09:40 AM

some people are pushing the 40$ threshold. wondering how long thats gonna hold up. who's gonna bust it?

holy smoke... I'm at 19.90

34.95 seems to be the magic number. I started at 19.95 4 years ago, sales where good. then moved to 24.95... sales about the same as 19.95. Took a big jump to 34.95 about 1.5 years ago (as a test) and sales more than doubled. Going to stay there. Customers are happy, I have almost no chargebacks, .02% (Thats about 6 in over 4 thousand sales) and 3 of them were proved total fraud.

Set a price, give the surfer what they paid for, in my case I give them about 400 hours of exclusive video, over 200,000 exclusive pictures a section of custom stories that fit the site and access to CAMZ. Customers stay and come back.
