Trying to get friends to work in this industry...

Would like to know your experience on this one...

This is not just about adult but generally talking about working as a webmaster.

Most seem to expect to make a killing without putting any sort of effort and are lazy to say the least..

I think its just useless to try to help them since its clear their expectations are unreal...

:(

Dont introduce any friends, its not meant to be.

If they dont succeed, you are the one getting blammed

Its like those affiliates that ask a gazillion questions and request the world and the moon and in the end don't do nothing but 100x worse :disgust

the more webmasters, the less surfers.
the less surfers, the less sales.
don't show them shit.

I'm actually teaching my best friend how this business works and how you get paid. I'm starting him out with buying gallery traffic and tgp submitting. I'm gonna teach him up to a certain point and then let him go on his own by there. The only reason im doing this for him is because i'd like for him to work for me in this business. Hopefully he'll succeed and we can work together.

Well look at most people who are already in adult; aren't they just the same? It's incredible how many lazy sods you can find on all the different adult forums - people who are still at $400/month after "working" 1 year in the industry...makes no sense to me :/

I tought my brother to submit galleries and shit now he is making over $3k a month after 1 year

I've lost track of how many people have asked me, "Can you set me up a site?", like it's a one-time thing and the money perpetually flows thereafter.

Those close enough to me that I would do a bit of work for free I've told once they get their basic idea(s) for their site the minimum they need to do is to provide me with some text (and pics, if any) and I'll get them running. In 8 years not one of them has followed through. Maybe they think it is like a sweater or something and are just hoping I'll knit one and give it to them for Christmas. :upsidedow

None of my friends or family want any thing to do with this biz.
Too much work they say. Stuck at home all day and night, no social life. etc

They now want you to update their blog. It's the latest craze!

I wish I had a dollar.....for each person, family OR friend, who asks me to teach them how to make money......and then, when I give them the briefest of overviews...like how many hours it takes just to get started....their eyes glaze over.

Its not good for nothing except waste time and get burned out :2 cents:

I've had a number of friends like that. I usually just point them in the right direction. Offer to help answer any SPECIFIC questions and that's it.

Most of them don't even get a website built. Although one of my friends actually persevered and is making a decent amount now.

seeric 12-30-2005 11:33 AM

i've had nothing but bad experiences trying to help people get in and make money. they are too caught up in the "porn" element of it all and not focused on the money. many dont have the aptitude to do this biz. they think you just put a couple images on a site and watch the money come in.

Count on the fact that I no longer give advice to friends and family.

They simply don't get it.

They see me work from home and live well.....and then they stop thinking...

Happy New Year!
