Did Dick CLark have a stroke?

i'm being serious. he looks in really bad shape. disconnected. slurred speech.

poor dick. whats the story?

seeric 12-31-2005 10:01 PM

poor guy i hope he has a complete recovery from whatever has happened to him. he is times square.

happy new year dick.

bjjb 12-31-2005 10:03 PM

Despite medical experts opinions i dont think anyone ever fully recovers from a stroke. I had one in 95 and my vision is still not as good as it was before it hit me.

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 12-31-2005 10:03 PM

I think it was more like a footjob than a stroke...

Anyways, long live Dick, and Happy New Year's East Coast!!!

ADG Webmaster

seeric 12-31-2005 10:06 PM

wow, he's completely lost most of his motor skills.

NoHassleSteve 12-31-2005 10:11 PM

That was as sad as watching the Pope trying to talk the week before he died.

I guess when you are a 'public' figure it's hard to just give up and fade away.

seeric 12-31-2005 10:13 PM

ABC should be sued for exploiting handicapped people. there is no way that he should have been put through that like a trained chimp.

poor dick. he should have been resting and no where near times square.

poor guy. i am sad for him. :(

Red Ezra 12-31-2005 10:14 PM

you have to admit he has a lot of guts getting up and doing this show considering he hasnt fully recovered form his stroke last year

Hes the one who wants to do it. You think anyone tells Dick Clark what to do? he's a billionaire and he's in charge.

well, now he's retarded basically. he will never come back from the damage that the stroke did. poor dick, i wish him the best on the road to recovery.

sometimes people need to be taken out of the spotlight.

his agents and the people who keep the money coming in are behind this. i know showbiz.

what a debacle. so sad to watch that. what a buzz kill.

Screaming 12-31-2005 10:30 PM

Happy New Year and god bless dick!

seeric 12-31-2005 10:37 PM

oh fuck, its unbearable now. changing the channel. fuck man, that was bad. dick, please retire to your private place of the earth and enjoy the money you worked so hard for buddy. fuck abc and their ratings. and tell your agents to get their priorities straight.

Rex 01-01-2006 04:40 AM

I'm not sure if he had a stroke or not. I know certain drugs for cancer tend to swell your tongue pretty bad and that was my first guess for him.

Poor guy -- either way I really don't want Ryan Seacrest to be the next Dick.

bjjb 01-01-2006 04:42 AM

Man when I had mine I had to be babysitted almost 24.7 for months. And mine was a "mild" stroke. I cant imagine his doctors letting hom go thru that. He must have one hell of a will to go on to do that. Wanna bet thats his last public appearance tho?

Tat2Jr 01-01-2006 05:01 AM

He had a stroke over a year ago. That's why Regis did the New years bash last year. I say more power to him for wanting to live his life and do what he loves to do, and that's entertain. (although he was pretty fucked up by it)

just because he had a stroke doesnt make him retarded.. you lose alot of your moter skills, you can still think mostly for yourself but just cant talk/walk/eat/shit

Quagmire 01-01-2006 08:12 AM

Dick needs to take some lessons from Carson. Get the fuck out of the spotlight, relax and enjoy what little you have left of your life, then die.

Trying to stay in the public eye in that state is nothing short of embarassing.

Sarah_Jayne 01-01-2006 08:35 AM

I am glad I didn't see that...sounds heart breaking

That is quite possibly the dumbest thing I've ever read on here. :1orglaugh

Having a stroke doesn't mean you're "retarded". While you can have cognitive deficits with a stroke, he seemed fine mentally. He has some motor skills problems, but it looked like that was it.

I thought it was great to see him back. You sound a bit ridiculous.

I was thinking the same thing ... but his countdown has been declining in ratings over the last few years and i bet his staff and himself knew people would tune in to see that .. ...his speech was the worsted .... :(

candyflip 01-01-2006 09:12 AM

I got to meet Dick Clark once, actually got to go up to his office and all that.

This was 6-7 years ago now and he seemed to be in rough shape then.

I didn't see him last night, but saw some footage from last week and couldn't believe he was planning to be there last night.

gornyhuy 01-01-2006 09:32 AM

I was in mid-fuck as the countdown was going on and his voice totally killed it. We just stopped and sat up and said "oh man, what the hell? Poor Dick."

OG LennyT 01-01-2006 09:50 AM

After his stroke, he said he had to learn to 'walk and talk' again.

Part of the learning process is setting goals for yourself. Undoubtedly, his goal was to be at this show for 2006.

Its his damn show, if that one goal helped him than let the let the old-timer make a final appearance. imho

I seriously doubt you'll see him again.

mikeyddddd 01-01-2006 09:55 AM

It was sad. I only heard about one sentence. I asked them to put on something else where I was.

figue of speech. don't have a baby about it. happy new year. :)

Wiggles 01-01-2006 11:54 AM

yeah it happened last year before new years, regis tookover last minute.

adultchica 01-01-2006 12:19 PM

Depressing, really. This was the man that "never aged" and always looked full of energy.

Truly so sad. I wish him the best though.

my understanding is that ABC was giving dick the full decision as to whether he would show up. Remember that Clark is passionate about his shows and name - he wanted to be there and would have fought if ABC said no. I am sure that Dick knew this would be one of the few years left he could do it - and rather than see him as handicap I see him as a man of strength who overcame his affliction to rise up once more to be with his 'friends'

That was brilliantly put, TheLegacy.

true that. good persepective man. :thumbsup

boneprone 01-01-2006 12:39 PM

Wait...... I thought that Ryan Seacrest dude was supposed to take over for Dick Clark this year and for the years to come??

What happened?

baddog 01-01-2006 12:42 PM

I was wondering the same thing. I have not seen the guy in years, but last night he looked fucked up.

Martina and Warren thought he was drunk, but I was leaning towards a recent stroke.

boneprone 01-01-2006 12:47 PM

Damn. I want to see this now.... I missed it.....

I wonder if ABC.COM would have it??

He was on the abc network right?

he looked really bad B. i felt sorry for him. it was a major buzz kill to watch him struggle through the cue cards and stuff. they may be rebroadcasting it today.

thats what i heard. :(

i dont think it looks good to go out like that. once that stuff goes on film, you cant take it back. it was almost as bad as watching ozzy on t.v. these past years. myabe he isn't capable of making those decisions. if he did choose to be there, is it hurting or helping him? it really bummed me out or i wouldn't have said anything here. i originally blamed it on his agents. i don't see it as a positive that he chose to go on t.v. for this. the poor guy should be resting. oh well, i guess its none of my business. i wont watch that next year if i choose to stay home again.

Holly Lez! 01-01-2006 01:58 PM

It was sad to see him like that :Oh crap .... He used to be known as the man who would never age.

Ah, I thought that happened last year. I thought they said he wouldn't do it again.

After Shock Media 01-01-2006 04:32 PM

When you are old or medically fucked up. You need goals and tasks to keep going. When you settle down, have nothing else to look foward to, and no job to do you die faster on the inside.
Dick is a producer and an on screen celebrity. He also is a workoholic and work is his life. When he stops doing that and just rests, that becomes the day he is ready to die.

Yeah, that is what I was saying last night. . . . guess it has been a while since I saw him last

timlover 01-01-2006 04:39 PM

just because somebody had a stroke, doesn't even make him any less of a man or minimizes his passions and accomplishments in life.

I guarantee it was alot harder for Dick than it was for you to watch.

You can't buy that kind of perseverance and courage that he took upon himself to make that broadcast...months and months of hardship and rehab. Some men are born with that inate quality.....that drive...

and others just aren't.....

think about that

Timmy- you and I are the only Dick Clark lovers on this board!

I thought he did a kickass job last night. I can't believe all the Dick haters around here.

That's it... I'm changing my sig.

tristan_D 01-01-2006 04:55 PM

that's just a very sad news for the new year.
