Don't forget...that milliondollarhomepage guy still has to pay for hosting!

Sure, his hosting cost isn't that high because it's only one page... but that graphic is a pretty solid size and in time it will add up. The idea was to have this one time fee for advertisers and they would get their ads on his page - for at least 5 years. So year after year, his hosting bill clips away at his profits. He'll be itching to pull the plug after year 5! Think he will find other ways of advertising on that page to bring in recurring revenue?

just a thought... hehe

Hopefully he was smart and negotiated a deal to get free hosting in exchange for the exposure of the hosting company...

phonesex 01-01-2006 02:26 PM

even then his profits are still 99.9%

poor boy :winkwink:

SmokeyTheBear 01-01-2006 02:28 PM

in 6 months nobody will visit his site anyways so its a moot point :)

He had a good idea, based on its catchiness as an idea.. It cant be duplicated and is over.

his blog is an interesting read http://www.milliondollarhomepage.com/blog.php

His site is getting about a quarter of a million hits per day but a lot of his traffic must be based on the hype and the news reports about the site.

I think once the hype about this site ends the traffic will decrease very fast

That page looks so ugly but at least he is going to make a mill

if hes smart he signed up to some programs and put his own links up. poker etc would make a killing.

Considering hosting is an expense I am sure with the money he did bring in he will need some write offs to help remove what he must pay for taxes.

on another note, hope you had a good new year, gonna signup another blog to your toplist, still sending traffic to your fetish category, good results coming back. thanks for the traffic.

Once in awhile something happens that I don't understand at all. I dont' get why this became popular and successful.

Had been cool if some big adult domains started to sell pixels for a year. Like XXX.com or Porn.com

:winkwink:

The entire concept was so stupid that nobody thought about doing it before him.

It's a non-techie dumbed down version of "Tiny ad's in this 1000x1000 space are for sale." Talk about repackaging an old product.

Just goes to show you that the best ideas are usually right under your nose.

detoxed 01-01-2006 04:45 PM

Are you kidding? What is hosting for that site? 10 years is 120 months.... 120 * 100-2000 taken from 1 million is still ok

Jarmusch 01-01-2006 04:48 PM

There's alot more people doing the same.

Check out Another Million Dollar Page. :1orglaugh

Amen.

It just has to be marketed right, and the kid hit a home run.

:)

Idiots.

Of course he does not pay for hosting.

I can just imagine the many offers he gets from hosting company wanting to host him in exchange for that banner on the frontpage saying "hosting provided by...".

He probably gets a bit of cash aswell from them besides the free hosting.
