Photoshop Tutorials?
Hey guys and girls! Does anyone know where I can find some good Photoshop tutorials that are geared towards adult web design? I've been through just about every page of good-tutorials.com and can't really find any tuts for "adult looking" web design. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

There are some mainstream ones under the podcasts at itunes, but nothing for adult of course and that would be a hard one to find.

Photoshop principles are the same whether you're workin' in adult or non-adult - the only difference being the graphic content. Learnin' Photoshop is one thing...but knowing and understanding good graphic illustration is quite another. I'd suggest checkin' out a few other adult sites and just get some general ideas in mind to use as loose guidelines. Consider what elements of a design look attractive and appealing and adapt them to your own needs (don't plagiarize/copyright infringe). Often I spend a lot of time just noodling around in Pshop tryin' experimental stuff...and often hit on ideas by trial-and-error. There's no substitute for just spendin' the time monkeying with the app and trying different things to see whatcha' get for results. I started back in the late 80s/early 90s workin' with Aldus Photostyler (which I still often use today)...and progressed along with Pshop with each new release - and still I learn somethin' new almost everyday...and not using tutorials. |
your nickname is slamdesigns... is that to represent that you do design work? If so.. why would you need any tutorials?

If you've been photoshopping for 10 years, no tutorial is going to help you. When it comes to photoshop, you always revert back to about 10 different techniques that you know. I've read almost every tutorial there is on gel-text, and metal-textures... I still just use one or two techniques, (out of the countless tutorials I've read). You don't need tutorials what you need is to learn how to be creative. You have the skills, you just need to learn how to get the "look" you're going for. Just keep studying. Look at TGP's and try to duplicate what you see and then break down what you learned. Was it a 1 pixel stroke that popped the image out? Was it a soft white glow around the edges? Was it the overused pastel purple tones? If no matter how hard you try you can't get the look then you are not trying hard enough. Or perhaps you are trying to hard. Ever met a porn designer? They don't sit there and try hard... they relax and let it flow. Or, perhaps your forte is gay. If you design really good wrestling sites and that's basically a bunch or guys that roll around with other guys, maybe you'd be better off designing gay sites. Gay sites sell really well. Or, or... maybe you need to build a wrestling type sex site. Maybe that's just your style. As long as you get the same message across, and can talk to your surfer in a way that makes him want to buy... then what difference does it make. The bottom line is you want to make that sale. Who gives a shit if your site looks like shit, as long as you have the same amount of signups it doesn't matter. You want a tutorial that teaches creativity, and either you have it naturally or you don't. You can learn it, but don't say you can't design until you learn it. Learn it as you go. At least that way you'll still be cranking out sites. Maybe that's it. Maybe you need to get your fucking head out of your ass and just do it. Stop fuckin bitching and complaining here how all you do is design gay wrestling sites and start telling us how good you design sex sites. Fuck the tutorials. I got your tutorial right here. Step 1: Design a good site Step 2: Sell it "I can't get the look, I can't get the look" You fuckin' baby! |

Dude, chill on the hostility. You actually started out with some pretty good advice, which I appreciate, but the hostility at the end was uncalled for. I'm not "bitching and complaining", I'm just making a statement. I want to learn all I can so that my designs are great...not just so-so. And I'm also not talking about making sites to sell to other people, I'm talking about building sites for myself. The bottom line is, if it doesn't impress me, it isn't going online. |
web1000.com
is there a difference b/n adult and mainstream as far as design is concerned ;) |

I agree with what was posted above in the fact that nothing can beat a few good hours of just playing around in PS even if you just delete the file when your done...you have to put the time in no matter how long you've been doing this type of work. enjoy! |
One of my sites http://www.gfxintervention.com Basic prinipals are there.

the best thing to do is let some of use tell you what we think of the work you have already done.

Why am I here? Because in 10 years of working in the wrestling business, and on wrestling sites, I haven't made shit. Here's a little known fact...if you aren't in the WWE, you might as well work at McDonalds, the moneys better. But don't get me wrong, I didn't get into this for the money either. I just love to design sites...and I love the "look" (there's that damn word again) of adult sites. |
