persoanlly i think he has done well with the idea. There is always going to be people that will give him a hard time only becuase he has made money and they have not.

People would get upset that they did not come up with the idea themselves.

I know it annoys me that i did not come up with an idea like it.

got to know the page when it was just 1 week old because of the then already huge media attention

It was definitely a unique idea. I kick myself for not coming up with it, not so much because it's unique but that it's so ridiculous. I would never guess that people would actually pay thousands for pixels. The ROI must be rather poor. But something unique and novel no matter how bizarre appeals to people. It's like my "My Pet Rock" in the 70's. A guy became a millionare by painting a faces onto rocks and putting a manual on how to take care of your pet rock.

Props to him for understanding and capitalizing on that feature of people.

There was a 1 in 100,000,000 chance that kid's idea would succeed and he just got lucky. Not a big deal, sort of like someone winning the lotto.

Agreed stupid idea that somehow got enough media attention to work & make money. The idea itself was not great. Selling pixels on a website with no traffic is not that smart if you ask me, nobody was going to buy traffic on a website with no traffic. BUT perhaps he is a marketing expert and planned the marketing of it or perhaps he just got lucky who knows?

He did get very lucky imo, good on him though, just shows what the power of the internet & media can do with something new.

I am shocked GTS didn't contact him within a week of it opening and help him sell the pixel spots :winkwink:
