I'm far from being a hippie but I know first hand what environmental irresponsibility can lead to. Many parts of Manila are smog-choked and a lot of buildings have ugly black streaks and stains caused by acid rain. I don't know about the granola and other hippie schtick, but the increased concern about the environment and doing one's small part to protect the environment is not a bad thing. IMHO, at least.

I love big cars. I love meat. I love toys, big and expensive toys. I love lush, beautiful forests. I love fresh water. I love untouched land.

I love nature and do think its important to be RESPONSIBLE without restricting life and the progression of life. Fair balance.

Those who don't think of nature at all are as destructive as those that only think of nature.

Enviromentalists are kind of looney.

Not as nuts as the related freaks that think Recycling is actually accomplishing anything.

Yeh I heard recycling paper does absolutely nothing. Apparently the only recycling that actually accomplishes anything is where a company will pay you to do it, like aluminum cans. Imagine that.

Recycling is inefficient and wastes resources. Conservation is where a difference can be made.

Some may be - there are loonies everywhere - but environmental conservation and eco-related activity is one serious bitch.

There is a LOT more to it than picking up the trash and a lump of serious money being spent by govts and orgs who are genuinely interested in reducing existing problems.

15 minutes spent with anyone engaged in this area can be an education :thumbsup
