Notice : GFY Maintenance Coming Up This Weekend!
Time for some major software updates. These will be taking place very late night/very early morning to reduce the impact and downtime. Preliminary schedule as follows.
Saturday morning 2am to 3am PACIFIC TIME Extra full database backup, probable downtime should be less than 1 hour, more like 30 minutes maximum. Sunday morning 2am to 3am PACIFIC TIME Secondary Extra database backup, and full codebase backup, probable downtime should be less than 1 hour, more like 30 minutes maximum. Monday morning 1am to 3am PACIFIC TIME System upgrade time, configuration, fine tuning. I'm already testing everything on one of my development servers, but there's a ton of steps involved in this. My printed checklist for this process is currently at 84 pages, which may grow even more before time for the live upgrade. :Oh crap I'm testing the hell out of everything to eliminate any surprises, so it should all go smoothly. I'll post any further information in this thread as it comes up. :thumbsup :thumbsup :thumbsup |
Sweet..please ban the outsourced bots and the :1orglaugh :1orglaugh posts

but that is going to suck for you dude, fuck man, i hate doing upgrades on a custom board/software...which reminds me, I have one on one of my sites that needs an upgrade....I have had the upgrade files sitting here, I am just dreading the 127 manual code insertions |
For those of us outside the USA what's the UTC offset for pacific time?

Oh no what ever will I do? GFY is my homepage now! LOL
I have this twisted love/hate relationship with this addictive board. I will have to force myself to perhaps read the news instead if I am awake during those hours |

Good luck and I hope that all goes well it's amazing how in so many lines of code 1 little thing can fuck it up and then you have to go find it.

But the backend code has pretty much been rewritten 100%, and that's why I'm doing so much testing. All the code has been made more modular, to allow features and other updates to "snap-in" as modules. Before, to add any features you had to hack on the original files, sometimes 100's of them just to put in a new feature. With the old code even a minor update was usually a very painful process. Now that it's modular, adding new features will be quick and easy. :) |
Good luck with the updates man... Im sure we will still get the morons making threads... but thats the nature of the game...
