BEWARE! This website will steal your content!
 

Hey guys. I just wanted to give everyone a heads up. I've located a site out there that will STEAL your content and use it to promote their site and they apparently do not care or are just too stupid to realize that this is ILLEGAL! I run a website called AdpModels.com and one of the ways how I promote my website is by creating promotional type web pages to help promote the site.

I was checking my website stats yesterday and I noticed a hit coming in from http://www.clubvotes.com/freeporn/

Well, guess what? Here is the ORIGINAL web page! http://www.adpmodels.com/alissa-tgp1.html

(Apparently, the person who modified my webpage left a couple of links on there leading back to my site for some reason or another........probably too damn stupid to realize that they left them.)

Anyway, as you can clearly see, this individual has DELIBERATELY used my "exclusive" images which were taken by ME to promote his/her site. They have also placed their watermark over mine. Not only that, they have used the exact same design among other things such as the actual text which was written by me. I did a "WhoIs" lookup on this individual and I tried contacting him/her through two different fax numbers as well as by email. The email was returned and the fax numbers hung up before receiving the fax.

One thing that I do have is a physical mailing address so I will be sending a letter to him/her informing them that they need to remove this blatant form of copyright infringement immediatly. If they do not comply then I WILL take legal action as fast as a heartbeat beats. Hell, I may not even give them a chance to remove it. As pissed as I am at this point, I may just take legal action very soon.

However, my question is this.....I am located in America and this person is located in Canada. How does this change things? I've always heard that it is a little harder to prosecute when it comes to people located in foreign countries abusing copyrighted material. If so, what steps should I take? I am going to consult with an attorney regarding this matter but I still wanted to post this on the board so that other webmasters will be on the lookout regarding this thief. I'd also like to hear some opinions from other webmasters regarding this.

He's sending you traffic from that page by using that content? Seriously what am I missing here?

He hosts in Michigan. File a DMCA notice against him with his host and their uplink provider. The host has 24 hours to remove the content (if h doesnt') or they are liable for contributory copyright infringement.

Umm....your missing alot bro. Did you even bother to look at the page that he duplicated? Did you happen to notice the copyright infringement that took place by this person taking my watermark and replacing it with his own watermark upon my copyrightable content? Not to mention, MY images are being used for his financial gain as an affiliate for http://www.wemakeamatch.com?

These are the two main reasons why this individual will be sued unless immediate action is taken to remove this bullshit. As webmaster to webmaster....you don't understand this?

Do a little studying up on copyright issues bro. You should already know this.... assuming that your a webmaster posting on a webmaster board. Very confusing.....

haha...I didn't know that you posted in here Milkman! Yeah, thank's my friend. Believe me, I'll do everything in my power to stop this bullshit.

I just received confirmation from his hosting company that the assholes website has been suspended. They're demanding the proper 2257 docs from him and he's not going to be able to provide them (as I am the only one that has them) so his website will probably be completely shut down. Hell, the next time...(if this ever happens again)...I'm just going to flat out sue the little prick that's responsible. Fuckin bastard...serves him right.
