Members area CMS. Suggestions - Reviews - Critiques please

I've got a friend who I've talked into moving his site to NATS and a content management system...just wondering who are you using for your CMS and if you had any suggestions or recommendations.

TIA

Check Sig. Does public and members. Very robust.

I use Xtract Management System from http://ecoders.biz

All the great features of the big boys, great support, affordable (you can even get the source code if you want it).

Definitely worth checking out.

I heard about some compatibility issues with site depth if you have anything but a very basic gallery template they charge you more to mod the software !!!

thanks - this CMS looks very slick. looks equal or better than SiteDepth and the source code comes cheap.

Umm.. of course they charge you to modify the software.. why would they do it for free?
You can do pretty complex templates with it, but you do need more than just very basic skills...

Hi Ice,

just out of curiosity, what do you like better about MAS?

Fabian

Validus 01-30-2006 08:23 AM

I love MAS and the support was/is great too. Was installed in no time, designs implemented quickly, and content adding no problem. Good stuff!

I can't say that it compares to MAS or CARMA, but it's easy to work with and the source code option gives you something to work with.

They've got a new version that's soon to be released, that will include a desktop application for you to put to work. Not sure what the timeframe for that is, but last I spoke with them it was coming down the pipe.

eroswebmaster 01-30-2006 09:44 AM

I did get a chance to take a look at Carma the other day and I was impressed.
That's what I'm leaning towards.

http://www.cmsmatrix.org/ ... great site with *lots* of CMS's reviewed, ranked and commented on.

JoeMeca 01-30-2006 12:25 PM

I agree SiteDepth is the way to go def.lly the best there is :thumbsup

I have been setting up the new version of sitedepth for my paysite for a few days now, and it is a breeze. I haven't gotten to templating yet, but I have been loading content in and doing the basic design.

I love it so far, so many options and it is all pretty easy and has every feature I could need.

Hello Fabian... I just checked out carma again and it is a very good CMS. What I like a bit better about MAS is the layout and interface. Also I like how MAS will scan for new content automatically.

I don't know if you have that feature as there is nothing on your features page or in the demo about that.
http://www.toomuchmedia.com/products.../features.html

Again they both seem to be on the same level as far as features, etc.. so it would come down to personal preference once a person takes a demo of both CMS's.

I've read the features of MAS and CARMA - nothing special in either that I saw. This Ecoders one may do what I need and I can get my own programmer to add features I want. It seems to be on par with SiteDepth reading the features on their site BUT i can't know that until Ecoders sends me an email with a demo login

Do you have ICQ or an email for them?

TheDoc 01-31-2006 12:48 AM

Straight up, Carma is beyond the other listed CMS's.. The others may have a few features Carma doesn't yet have, however since Carma uses PHP Smarty Templates and the way Carma uses those templates, you are able to 100% customize every aspect of the site. If you can think of it, then it's possible to build with Carma.
