Please recommend the best laptop

Top priorities being speed and battery life. Well a good screen for being outside will help too.

I just want a really good one cuz mine is completely screwed! :helpme

Rinaldo 01-12-2006 03:17 PM

the one that you can drop from a 3rd story building an dlight on fire looks nice, the toughbook

But I love my dell. 6 hours of battery power can't be beat

i've had a couple problems with dells - but over all good.

i would say to stay away from too big of a screen if you're going to be traveling with it and want to use it on a plane. I've got a 17inch widescreen - and even in first class - I can't use it tooo comfortably.

Usually, you can't go wrong with a Toshiba. I have Dell Inspirons right now and there were issues with the OS when I originally got them. After reinstalling the OS, they work fine now.

G-Rotica 01-12-2006 03:54 PM

Dell :thumbsup

Thurbs 01-12-2006 03:57 PM

Dells have really taken the edge for laptop lovers ... ofcourse, Sonys will always be great for screens / style .. and well, a good Powerbook is hard to beat :)

Brad Mitchell 01-12-2006 05:04 PM

Dell Latitude series or a Sony Vaio

Adult Insider Dave 01-12-2006 05:15 PM

I have owned about 10 dell laptops without any problems (other than me spilling beer on them, stepping on them, shit like that). I would go that route or Sony (i just got one and it is pretty nice ;)

beta-tester 01-12-2006 05:19 PM

I got hp one, and it rocks :thumbsup

I am very happy with my Fujitsu E series Life notebook. I think it's the 8020....all I had to do was add RAM....having 2 gigs makes all the difference no matter what you buy.

E Guru 01-12-2006 06:53 PM

Im sitting here taking a shit and I am on my HP
If it can survive my stink I would say its pretty solid

Almighty_Jim 01-12-2006 07:35 PM

Toshiba Satellite Tablet with pivoting screen lets you hand write notes directly on the screen then touch a button and it's converted to a word ducument and filed with one more touch. Fast as hell with multiple screens open, CD/DVD burner, tons of space, wireless is awesome. About $1500 :thumbsup

sfera 01-12-2006 07:36 PM

get the kmart brand!

Peaches 01-12-2006 08:31 PM

I love my Dell! I had to replace the keyboard when I spilled a drink on it, but it's been jostled, covered in dust and dog hair and it keeps on tickin' :)

Probono 01-12-2006 08:35 PM

Go Apple and you will never go back.

I have a HP Pavilion zv5000, on it now...I FUCKING hate it...

lets see

-thing is heavy as shit
- runs very hot (fans sound like jets lol)
- big 15.4" widescreen kills the battery quickly
- had to send it back because of the power cord
- when i sent it back, they replaced my HD, with a refurb, when they shouldnt have touched it. They replaced the motherboard (power cord hole is connected to it) ..shouldnt have touched the hd.

so basicly, its a fast comp (2ghz athlon 64 3200+, 80gb, dvdrw etc) but the quality completly blows! and their support is even worse...im not even going to get into that, or my hp desktop.

Brujah 01-12-2006 09:05 PM

what's good about the mac book pro ? does it have a console and you can run programs like php, mysql, etc. ? what about icq, yahoo messenger ? good ripping/burning/editing utilities ?

venus 01-12-2006 09:45 PM

I got the ZD8205US , its a monster tho, 17in wide screen, 2.8 ghz Pentium4..fast, awsome screen, but its big and heavy and short battery life.

Depends on intended use and needs. Like if you're going be using the Macromedia suite of software, an apple is the wrong choice.

When someone says Dell, they are speaking of a shit load of different laptop models. The point is which one.

Are you paying cash or were you thinking of leasing to buy.. Dell accounting sucks bad IMO (many customers with problems- I consult).

So a little more detail on your exact needs besides bright screen would help make suggestions.
