Which is the better product??

I dont know anything about carma but i have been using MAS for a while now and its top notch. After years of manually updating sites i wouldnt even launch one now without it. I dont know if they have a lease option but you should contact Oystein he may be able to work something out with you.

We've recently re-developed our entire network using MAS and we're very happy with it. There are various leased content providers (feeds) that are a part of the suite that you can integrate in about 5 mins flat - it's a nice value-add.

It's very well priced - keep that in mind when you're considering the lease option.

we are using CARMA and could not be happier

I don't use either of those, I use SiteDepth, and I can tell after having the install of V3 on my box a few days ago, it is amazing.....some cool shit to be seen with the new SiteDepth www.sitedepth.com

I too use the MAS system and it?s the best system around! I use to be tied to a programmer who ran my in-house content management system, but he bailed on me, leaving me holding my dick in my hands. I had to start from scratch and I picked the MAS system after seeing all the features they offer. Now that I use the MAS system, I can sleep at night! I have been using their system for about a year now! Whenever I need help with something they are right their for me! The best part for me, I know they are not going to bail on me! They are very professional and do a very clean and fast job! I would recommend them to anyone looking to move to the next level by going to a content management system! They are great guys! :thumbsup

Sounds like I'm gonna have to give MAS a shot. I never heard of Carma though.

I'm over SD. I've done abotu 15+ installs of it. It sucks when you compare it to something good, like CARMA.

It does things that only SD can dream of!

Its templating system is great (uses smarty) - so you can do ANYTHING you want w/ your member's areas. Its content publishing script is even better - you can setup rules like 'release at least 2 blowjob sets w/ XYZ actor every week' and 'release 5 straight masturbation sets every monday at 5pm'

just out of curiosity, what is different about it, I just checked the feature set of Carma again and saw all the same features that sitedepth has...and from what i can tell Sitedepth3 has a few more features that Carma doesn't.....is there a live demo of Carma somewhere?

Again, I'm not saying that I am over SD for no reason. You are correct, at a glance, they appear to be similar products.

First and foremost, the *largest* difference is support.
I could get at least 5 people to post here shooting down SD. If you have a product that runs, awesome. If it breaks, I hope you manage to get it fixed in a timely fashion.
CARMA support is great. There's a comprehensive knowledge base, and you know that sending a ticket will get you a response, usually in a few hours, and always less than 24. Work and help are always free. Mods generally are too. They're helping us migrate all our content from SD (and that's a lot), FOC.

Comparing functions:
SD Templates vs. CARMA templates
SD uses quite a restrictive templating system. You're very muchly limited to doing what SD wants to do. You can't, for example, list 3 pictures, insert a teaser shot from another site, insert a few more.
CARMA uses SMARTY is its templating system - for anyone who knows about it, that's really enough said. You can do ANYTHING with your templates.
Example? I converted 5 members areas into WAP (mobile phone compatible) areas in under 2 hours. I'd never have been able to do it in SD.

Content:
Without seriously using custom variables, it's hard to categorise your content in SD. You have to put your content into a section, which will classify it (ie, Solo girls, Masturbation) whereas in CARMA, you classify the content.
You can set - Location (as many as you need), say 'Outdoors', 'In the Park' - the type - Softcore, Straight.. The Actor 'Raven Riley' (and the system knows from previous sets that Raven Riley is a 19yo brunette with a latina type body, b cup breasts, shaved pussy and long hair).. and the categories, again as many as you want.. say.. Solo, Masutbation, Public Nudity, Orgasm - you make up as many as you need.

That done - when creating rules to update your site, you can very easily pinpoint content - so you can say (and it is literally this specific)
Release 'at least' '2' sets of 'solo or orgasm' content where the actor is 'raven riley' or has 'brown hair' every 'one week'

Set up a few rules like that, and your site updates, with variety.
IIRC, in SD, you can only set the publish date for sets, and release content (you can't specify types)

Of course, it ties in with NATS, and will also tie in SPARTA - so you can see exactly what member downloaded what, see which affiliates sent who, and also create memer's areas around these variables (ie: members older than 2 weeks get bonuses.. or whatever you want to do)

That said any done, both handle member's areas, and both do good jobs.
To reiterate, the main difference is support, I believe. I do templating / programming / support for both SD and CARMA, and I'm only going from my experiences and my clients' comments.

My webmaster knows more about this, but we purchased mas and he said it has been excellent and there supprt is fantastic.

Here's what I just did in CARMA tonight.
BTW, I am not affiliated w/ the guys, I'm just telling you my experience.

My client wanted their member's area to also be mobile.
Using the templating system, I had CARMA sending out WAP/WML headers, and 100% valid WML to take their system mobile.

Only problem is, mobile phones don't support HTTPAuth (popping up password boxes) - no problems at all, for the WAP pages, I created an interface that lets the user enter their UN / PW which are then checked against the htpasswd file.. they're then validated and let in.

Really, really cool stuff, and I know for a fact that I couldn't do it in SD.

MAS is great! Don't know Carma... but MAS is super!

I have just started working with CARMA and I must say I am bowled over by the software, it really is very good and no doubt will get even better in future.

Interesting...Sitedepth is just a fraction of the cost. how does Sitedepth compare feature wise?

I noticed Panchodog is using Sitedepth!

The major difference that you won't see in a feature list is SUPPORT.
