The Apache webserver can do this efficiently using mod-rewrite.

Past that though, I guess you just need a search-and-replace script that will locate maybe the <body> tag and insert your line below there?

Allow .html documents to be read as .php documents in Apache and you're set. There is no need for any kind of script.

Although I wouldn't suggest you do anything because you seem quite clueless. And it's generally not a good idea to amend Apache when you're clueless.

Your not going to be able to do it without first modifying each of those pages..

im getting 404 bro

Tom_PM 01-23-2006 11:18 AM

I dont think I understand the request.

"on top of every page"? You want to open, write to, and save every ".html" file on your server?

Or want to be able to link from pages on your domain, to other pages on your domain and use a query string to track clicks or something?

What im trying to do here is this...

I have a shitloads of galleries on my server, and i want to add different recips to those galleries....its quite a headache to do that when you have 4000 different galleries per domain times 6-7 domains....

anyway i need a solution :)

Your going to have to modify each document..I dont think theres any way around that.. you could use a site wide find and replace.

Another thing you could do is like this

http://YOURSERVER.COM/gallfinder.php.../gallery1.html

then just call the galleries from within the gallfinder.php page..

so like..

<template body>
- insert gallery here
</body >

Tom_PM 01-23-2006 11:47 AM

Yeah, you need a list of files to be updated, a common marker in each file where the insertion will go, write permissions on all of the files..
Once you have that, it's easy, lol.

tgps defenetly won't approve that....
thats why I was thinking myserver.com/gallery.html?recip123
anyone else with a possible solution?
