Who else is too lazy/busy to make their own food?

anyone ever try those meal places that prepare them for you? i usually get takeout from a lot of different places since i dont eat fast food. but i'm getting kind of sick of it.

Dagwolf 01-24-2006 06:24 PM

I get meals on wheels. I just sit in a wheelchair and put on a white wig when they come.

After Shock Media 01-24-2006 06:24 PM

If you have a well stocked kitchen making a meal is very fast and easy.
Though I have tried those prepared meal places, they ussually give you a week or so's worth of food that you freeze. Found out it is easier and cheaper just to cook one day a week yourself and freeze up some meals.

i am not buzy, but too lazy, and i admit it, i almost never do any food for myself :disgust

I had a lady who used to come in once a month and cook 20 or so meals and freeze them. It was great :)

Those that eat out this often, how in the hell do you control your diet and or calorie intake. Oh and please just do not say you pick healthy items. I know first hand how much butter goes into a veggie dish at a restaurant.

They are around in many places and the assorted franchises are growing as well. Basicly they prepare several dishes for you and you freeze them. All you need to do is defrost and cook or just cook. Perks are you know it was made fresh and is not full of crap ingrediants (ala tv dinners), flip side it is butt ass expensive.

get a gf/wife/maid/...

I am always busy but still need to feed the family so I usually cook in bulk. When I make meatloaf, I will make 6 of them and freeze 5, lasagna I will make 5 or 6 of them.

I have one of those machines that suck all the air out of the special freezer bags and seal them so not only do I cook things in advance....if I am cooking something fresh and we have leftovers I will freeze up single servings of the leftovers so the kids can just pop in a bag of pasta in the microwave and within a few minutes have a plateful of homemade pasta ready to eat.

It's also more cost effective.....to do it your way. Our whole house is on a pretty regimented food program....so it's pretty easy to cook quantity and then mack on it all week.

beemk 01-24-2006 06:36 PM

heres one of the places in my area my aunt showed me.... but its for 4-6 people meals so it doesnt really help me. plus their menu isnt that good.

my main consideration is if i spend 1 hour cooking a day that i could have spent working how much money did that cost me? far more than any meal could have cost me.

PixeLs 01-24-2006 06:49 PM

There were times when I'm really running out of time to prepare for my own food. However, I still prefer preparing them myself.

Vitasoy 01-24-2006 07:59 PM

I am.. but I'm not that good of a cook either. So take out is usually what I eat

polle54 01-24-2006 07:59 PM

count me in

Humans have to take breaks from work or productivity decreases and affects revenue potential....taking the time to cook healthy meals does a body good, giving you an excellent internal environment....for mental acuity....it's an investment, long term....

I for one actually like cooking. Weekdays, I don't get much time to cook so I usually just make the quick meal, but on weekends, I like making the good meals. Gotta have some hobbies :)

I'm usually to lazy to go get take out. I also eat top ramens raw because I'm too lazy to boil them. Seriously.

Babagirls 01-24-2006 08:42 PM

i love cooking. although i have my days where i tell the boyfriend to go get a pizza or something cuz i dont feel like cookin that day.

every meal takes 10-45 mins to cook. not that hard to do. not that time consuming.
-power bar or piece of friut in the morning-1 min
-salad for lunch 5 mins
-popcorn for mid-day snack 3 mins
-chicken breasts with veggies and boiled potatoes 20 mins

take a break away from the pc..cook and eat something. refresh your mind.

if i take a break from work its usually to read, go work out, walk my dog, or do something with friends. i try not to do it to spend time cooking.

stroker 01-24-2006 09:33 PM

We just started ordering from http://www.schwans.com/ . Their food is pretty decent, some things suck though.

And, they are all good activities....which will refresh you...I just think that what you put into your body is a priority.

Not arguing....we do what we gotta do....

Lately , I have been getting take out or microwave meals. We are slammed with work and I have no time to cook. The delivery guys are happy with that I am sure.

tristan_D 01-24-2006 11:57 PM

there was a time I eat take out foods almost everyday, but I am lucky to have a GF who is a fantastic cook. she brings me food everytime she would pay me a visit

blazin 01-25-2006 01:09 AM

You need to learn cook things that are quicky and easy. Most of the meals that I cook take less than 30 minutes, some less than 10.
Only on a weekend will I cook something that takes a lot of time.
