How do you handle the COLD wheather ?

I see why people gain weight in the winter now. Who wants to go outside and freeze. Right now it's time for me to head to the gym and need to hit the store for some basic's food, drink etc...

I like the gym I go to and today is a workout day...but man just those few blocks seem so far away....and the store is even in between here and the gym...so it's just a one trip deal...but I find myself making another cup of coffee and rolling one, saying fuck it.

I have been working out long enough to know when I'm just being lazy. This is not the case...I just don't want to go outside and freeze. I will admit it...I'm a WIMP when it comes to the Cold.

Ps. If I don't go to the store then no food...means no weight gain...hmmm

I just sit at home and eat. Then again I do that in the summer too.
All just so I can collect a 200lbs layer of fat, so when I HAVE to go out, I'll stay warm.

as long as my ears, hands, and feet are warm I'm good to go.

I really love winter sports but it ends there... I enjoy skating, hockey, skiing and snowboarding.

Going down in tubes with the daughter... etc

But winter can really be a pain in the ass...

I stay home, hate cold weather. Now the next question, what's the coldest you ever experienced?

Abithefiend 01-28-2006 06:48 AM

I wrap up warm with lots of woolies, then I don't care how cold it is outside.

January - winter of '79.

Walking home 12 miles along wind-swept country roads through sub-zero temps in a blizzard wearin' running shoes, a light jacket, no gloves or hat.

Hypothermia and near-frostbite is no joy. :winkwink:

Violetta 01-28-2006 08:06 AM

stay inside or dress properly! I hate the cold weather! It's good that the summer is closing in...

For the cold weather I just wear more layers of clothes when I have to go walk anywhere.
Of course when it is -35C you have to wear at least 3 layers, but I usually wear 4.
As long as you dres for the cold it isn't that bad out there.
Also I smoke more weed and cigs in winter, my mind thinks it helps warm me up from the inside out.

KingK7 01-28-2006 10:57 AM

I hate cold weather... Got my portion of it in the army, -30 degrees celsius. ( -22 fahrenheit )
Try living in one of these fuckers for 3 weeks in a row, getting up and out every 3 hours to man the machine gun outside:

Actually our tent was a slightly different one most of the time, smaller and lower, with just one small kerosene heater.

I have always dealt with the canadian winter by coming to Florida which is where Tanker and I are at this moment.

I always get fat when I stay in Canada for the winter. It is a given. It is too cold to go for a walk it is too cold to go to the gym and get all sweaty and then go back out into the cold, it is way to cold to do anything that involves outside.

I get brave a couple times and go for the odd hike on days when it is snowy but not cold but I have learned that it is best for my health and waist line to migrate south. check out pics from our road trip here Ram: http://www.Jamesandellisa.com

I'm starting to run now and the treadmill sucks for that, so I can't wait for warmer weather.

But, no gym. No muscles. And, even though the food program is 80% of this whole thing, going to the gym does get me out of the house, for I have no real life....and it gets me away from my work...since I AM a workaholic...

And, if one has to have a magnificent obsession, being buff ain't bad.

The way I do it is look in the mirror...knowing I haven't hit my goals makes me put on my gym clothes and sigh...just do it. :)
