Ways to delete a file? HELPP! lol

so i downloaded a porn clip, and i cannot delete it! lol

i dont really care because my pc is filled with porn, but its pissin me off that it cannot be deleted!

click on it once, hit delete button - nothing

right click on it - no delete option

click on it once, hit file/delete - nothing

ctrl+x - nothing

tried dragging it into another folder, wouldnt move

Could this be because its one of those ones that have a long ass file name? Its like "best movie in the world - ass fuck lesbian milf sex teen ass orgy ......... and on and on"

wtf do i do? lol. its pissin me off that i cant delete this fucker. Also lots of other people download it from me because its in my share folder, so i know they are all getting fucked also lol.

also i go to rename it, and i get a ding from windows indicating it cannot be done

Go to msdos and erase it from there.

Long file names can cause problems with moving them. Try changing it to something shorter.

If that fails try changing the file name to .txt then open it, highlight all and type anything in it's place. Then delete the .txt file. Even if someone was checking for porn on your PC a txt file won't draw suspicion:)

usually u can delete those files by rebooting in safe mode.it should delete then.

mardigras 01-29-2006 11:34 AM

I had the reply window open for a bit before I got to reply, so I missed the part about your not being able to rename it. Try booting in Safe mode and see if you can delete rename/delete it from there. Failing that maybe you can lose it in a System Restore.

I second the reboot - my guess is that some program is holding a lock on it beyond the time it should have been released.

turn off whatever program that is sharing it! You can't delete it when it's beeing used. Disconnect your cable if you still have problems.

I agree with Rockatansky, if you are using a file sharing program and someone is currently downloading that particular file then your system won't let you delete it then. So you either have to wait until no one is downloading the file, or close the file sharing program off and wait about 30 secs for all the connection to die then delete, or reboot your system and before running your file sharing program go and delete the movie file.
