Oh man it must be terrible.. sorry to hear that you lost a friend.

SilentKnight 01-29-2006 01:33 PM

Sorry to hear about your loss. Losing a longtime pet can be most difficult - gone through it several times myself over the years.

Sounds cliche and doesn't offset the loss, but putting him to rest was one of the kindest things you can do for an old friend.

It was a cross between a multese (i'm not sure how to spell it) and a poodle. It was a little dog.

sickbeatz 01-29-2006 02:14 PM

Sorry about you loss Sickbeatz...

We made a shrine to our cat Phelix when she passed away after being with us for 14 years - we have her ashes in a little box, with pictures of her beside it. My wife is Buddhist, so she leaves oranges and burns incense and makes other offerings from time to time or on special occasions. It might sound silly, but it's a nice way to remember her.

Sharing with people here may not make the pain go away, but I think you will find that many people empathize with you.

Saying goodbye to a soul that gave you so many years of joy, snuggles, loyal friendship and touched your heart with the purest type of unconditional love is one of life's most challenging, unforgettable and sad moments.

The empty spots that our pets leave behind in our hearts when they pass on stay with us forever.

Rest In Peace

Vitasoy 01-29-2006 05:59 PM

That is very sad. Happened to us too, that's why I don't think we'll ever be able to get another dog.
