Drama, seeking advice

Yeah, so last night was a first for me. I was accused of stealing money.

Scenario:
This guy i've been seeing a couple times invites me over to a party at his house. I head on over, and he's the only guy I know there. No big deal, I quickly become friendly with people there. It's a small party, maybe 10-15 people hanging out. 5 of us start playing a Poker tourney with a 20 dollar buy in. I held onto the money since I was dealing. When I got bumped out, I put the 100 bucks on the table and went to the kitchen where everyone else was. 5 minutes later I look back and hear them trying to find where the money is, since they were just going to split it.

I walked back, I checked myself just in case I still had it on me somehow, which I didnt. I asked if they all checked their pockets, and if someone else was here, etc. After a while, I didn't know what else to do, so I went back to the kitchen. I headed back periodically just to see if they found it. I felt really bad, but I knew for sure I dropped the money.

A little while later, my friends roomate asked me to empty my purse. I was a bit annoyed, but complied. He also asked me to empty my wallet which had a 100 dollar bill. At this point I claimed I had it in there originally and was not the poker money. He told me that while he lives there and pays rent I am not allowed back at the house. I was fucking kicked out of this party, and there was nothing I could do.

So, this is what i'm asking. What do I do to fix this? Yeah, it looks bad, I was the only new person there and this has never happened before. My friend was too drunk at the time to assist in anything, and people were in different stages of drunkenness to help out. I know I didn't take the money. But being accused of taking the money bothered me more than anything.

boner 2.0 01-29-2006 01:21 PM

Just tell him to fuck off :321GFY and that you won't lose your name for $100.

Rodhead 01-29-2006 01:24 PM

Sounds like you were set up to me. Not a lot you can do in that situation really.

SleazyDream 01-29-2006 01:24 PM

leave and don't go back.

DatingGold 01-29-2006 01:25 PM

It's kind of late now. I would just tell them that you honestly did not take it. Say you placed on the table and you are sorry you did that or even misplaced it. It was an accident and only a $100, they shouldn't really freak out.

SleazyDream 01-29-2006 01:25 PM

one sec - 5 people - $20 buy in - that's 5 twenties - not a $100 bill........

am i missing something here?

OzMan 01-29-2006 01:26 PM

Surely at least one other person at the table must have seen you put the money there. Or you must have said something like "ok here's the money, I'm out" etc ...Doesn't everybody look when money is being put down or picked up?

If they were all that drunk not to notice that one of them is a thief and your friend was too drunk to defend you I wouldn't see him/them again as it will be impossible to convince them otherwise.

Alex 01-29-2006 01:26 PM

What he said ^^^^

One of those scum bags took the money, if all you had is a 100$ bill how can you have taken them. I assume everyone paid with a $20 which you said you didnt have on you.

It was 4 people playing, one guy re-bought in...so I gave him the 4 20s and he gave me a 100.

Ice 01-29-2006 01:31 PM

Do what Sleazy said... don't go back.

Zoe I remember playing poker at webmaster access with you and you were holding the money. When you got bumped out you put it on the table and we all could see that you did. I think you were setup.

Devils_Child 01-29-2006 01:33 PM

So why do they think you took the money? If everyone put in 20 bucks, you would have all 20's and not a 100 dollar bill. I think they just wanted to blame someone, other then a friend. Some times it's easier. I know when I have been at parties and something like this comes up. It's allways the no named guy that gets blamed. Then after a day or so. The cash or iteam turns up some where or some one had it.

If you like the guy. then I would say something to him. Be honest and tell walk him through the night. Or when it happend. Like tell him you got up. Pulled the cash out. Set it here (point to the spot) and went into the kitchen. But if don't like him or care about it. I would say not to get into it again. Cause some times it makes things worse. Since the other people where all friends. Friends back up friends and no one wants to think of a friend stealing from him. If that did happen. Then I doubt the cash will be found anyways. Cause they have an easy out.

Alphonso 01-29-2006 01:34 PM

i hate thiefs

fris 01-29-2006 01:35 PM

100$ is not worth it, you are better than that. if someone asked you to dump out your purse and your wallet, honestly if it was me i would have told them where to go, but being the nice person you are you said ok.

I talked to my friend this morning, he believes me, and he's going to get to the bottom of this. If he sides with his friends, i'll just cut my losses and leave. Nothing pisses me off more than being called a thief. It's hard to explain..but thats probably the worst thing you can accuse me of.

sltr 01-29-2006 01:37 PM

have them check the trash ASAP, perhaps no one was a thief

Precisely . . . do you do magic tricks or something?

Yeah, that's the thing. I had nothing to hide. I pulled out the 100 outof my wallet and said I already had it. The 100 for the tourney was folded in fourths and this was a clean bill. The roomate demonstrated on my bill how easy it is to crease it out. Fucking unbelievable.

Give them the money back, and promise never to steal again.

I know your bitch ass would never steal.

:1orglaugh Sorry I couldn't resist. And yeah, you were too nice opening your purse / wallet. I wouldn't have blamed you for smashing his face in with it instead.

Glad you know your math. If someone buys in for $20 with a $100 bill they get back $80.

Tell the prick to piss off , and dont go back !!

Sly 01-29-2006 02:17 PM

Ok, honestly, if somebody "new" is sitting in and handling the money and suddenly the money is gone, I would be suspicious too. You can't blame these people for thinking you did it, as far as they know you were the last person holding the money. The only person you can truly be pissed at is the person who DID actually steal the money, which isn't you.

There isn't anybody here who can honestly say they wouldn't react the same way as these other people have in a similar situation.

One guy re-bought in, DUH!!

That makes 5 buy-ins @ 20.00 = 100.00

So sorry to hear this happened, some thief got off with 100.00 at your expense!

pornguy 01-29-2006 02:30 PM

The next time that you see him make sure that you have about 1k in 100's in your purse. Show it to him, and then explain nicely that you would not steal because you dont need to money. Then tell him to fuck off, and walk away.

Violetta 01-29-2006 02:34 PM

that sucks... sounds like some stupid people

Ok, so I failed to properly read the problem. Doesn't change the fact that Lord Nelson is still an asshole:winkwink:

so what time did the train arrive in chicago?

so the pot was $120, not $100, because one of your friends bought back in for $20. so if you had a $100 bill in your purse that they thought was the money from the tourney, did they not think about the other $20?

tony286 01-29-2006 03:11 PM

stop hanging with scummy people your too sweet of a kid .

Doctor Dre 01-29-2006 03:13 PM

Well since you had a $100 bill, and the buy in was $20, how could it be the poker money ???

That would be more like 5x $20.

tony286 01-29-2006 03:14 PM

also you live in lv go to a casino u want to play cards no bullshit that way

Doctor Dre 01-29-2006 03:16 PM

I'd probably just never go back there. If people are to seal and fight for $100, it's not worth it... I've been to plenty of private poker games and never had any issues at all with the money.

exactly. why did she have a second $100 bill? if she lost the tourney money and that included a $100 bill, then she also had one bill in her purse, and that was a $100 bill.

you were walking around with two $100 bills?

the whole story just doesnt add up.

seeric 01-29-2006 03:22 PM

sounds like a drunken debacle to me. i wouldn't lose sleep over it. adding alcohol to any situation is a recipe for disaster. i guess the point is if you didn't take the money than you can live with yourself and who cares what they think. the asshole that really took it has to live with that. karma will handle that for you.

:)

feel better.

a man might do it, but a girl. seems unrealistic to me.

average girl would have a few $20 with her. not two $100 bills.

xxxdesign-net 01-29-2006 03:58 PM

are you 100% sure you already had a $100 bill on you? Couldnt you have put the $100 bill in your purse without even realising it...?

And did your drink any alchool while there?

That will be all... :batman

it doesnt necessarily have something to do with being good or bad... it can simply be an honest mistake.. sometimes you think you still have money in your wallet and later realise that you took it out and put it somewhere else.. or bought something, etc...
