Maybe that explains global warming then, and scientists who keep saying it's our fault are all wrong about it.

polish_aristocrat 01-29-2006 02:14 PM

we will die in 2012 anyway

I'm fairly sure that it has to do with a natural change in volcanic activity......granted, carbon emissions may be a part of it, but the historical record shows that temperatures have fluctuated dramatically since far before civilization existed.

Mugshot 01-29-2006 02:14 PM

The sun will die one day too ... we are DOOMED ;)

Damn, just earlier today I read this article -
http://msnbc.msn.com/id/11079935/

Now I read the one that you posted, it actually scares me with so many different things that could pretty much end the world. I suppose that none of that is gonna happen until I'm dead and gone, but my offspring might have to deal with it.

stavan 01-29-2006 04:15 PM

brrrrrr , chilling thought

ElvisManson 01-29-2006 04:17 PM

it is not disappearing . It is shifting...getting ready for a pole shift. North is going to become South one day. According to scientists this has happened a few times alrready.

crockett 01-29-2006 04:19 PM

No need to wear tin foil hats, because it's happening and it's scientific fact. However most scientists tend to think it's not going to disappear but rather flip polarity. So the north pole would now be the south and vice versa.

Yes, but based on the historical record, scientists think there will be a period of decades with an extremely weak field, before the polarity reverses and the strength grows. Its not the shift that is the danger, its the period in between (supposedly)

I still think this is a bunch of fearmongering. :1orglaugh

Oh, and bird flu. :1orglaugh

crockett 01-29-2006 04:36 PM

Well there is also a big super volcano out there in Yellow Stone national park that's supposed to blow away half of the U.S and then kill the rest of us due to the nuclear winter effect from all the ash.

So one way or another if we don't get hit by a giant asteroid I'm sure something will get us.

Phoenix 01-29-2006 04:36 PM

if it goes we'll be dead of radiation shortly after

MikesTraffic 01-29-2006 05:13 PM

if it happens, it's meant to happen

aico 01-29-2006 05:21 PM

just make sure you keep pushing that button every 108 minutes.

Fairly sure ? Nobody really knows 100 %... lol

If it goes, it's just gone, not like we can do somethin about it... I wont be there to see that.

This is what I hear as well. Its not the shifting that is the main problem, its what is going to happen while it shifts. Weather patterns over the past year or so have already changed a lot and they seem to be getting worse.

I believe serious events like massive storms, earthquakes and other disasters are all going to get worse and more frequent.

Fairly sure as to what I've read before, however I might not be clear on what I read, considering this whole scare has been going on for a few years now.

Persignup Dustin 01-29-2006 05:41 PM

Does that mean busted nuts will gravitate in the air instead of falling to the floor from now on?

Rodhead 01-29-2006 05:41 PM

The disappearance of the magnetic field always occurs before the poles undergo a major shift. It has happened many times in the past, and NONE have occured at the same time as a major extinction event.

reynold 01-30-2006 05:12 AM

sounds like THE CORE.

maybe we should start building equipments like those found in the movie.

Someone watched The Core too many times.

Quagmire 01-30-2006 10:20 AM

Well if the magnetic field is going to fail I think we'd all better head off to the tanning salon to get a good tan base before it happens.

TheLegacy 01-30-2006 10:23 AM

I'm selling my fridge magnet business NOW before the stock market hears of this
