i used the built-in firewall of my dsl router/modem
plus
windows xp built-in firewall
havent see any problems for 2 years now :)
those added programs just pure nuissance to me....

Sygate is way better than ZoneAlarm! You cannot compare these two! Look at Sygate's options and rule writting system: it looks and feels like more professional tool... so, my vote for Sygate! :)

Never had any luck with Zonealarm..I tried Tiny for awhile which was ok for a free program

never tried sygate, but zonealarm is pretty good :thumbsup
combined with a properly configured router is really all you need...

I've only tried ZoneAlarm but got rid of it when it was causing little hiccups in Counter Strike.
