"the internet is public domain"
 

Sorry but I had to share this. It was posted on a surfer/fan forum I enjoy reading. The person claimed photos on somebody's website were public domain and when I argued that they most likely weren't I got the reply:

"Well this is America, and unless something is copyrighted, the internet is public domain"

Sometimes I forget how little the average surfer knows.

Hahaha... gotta love how much people "know."

You can post actual laws, reference to cases and anything else and that person will keep right on believing that they're right and they know exactly how it is.

The even sadder part is that he, as a single individual infringing upon copyright laws in the privacy of his own home, is very likely to never get hit with a lawsuit for this, ergo he'll keep believing this forever and very likely even pass that belief on to others.
